  • another newbie question

    sorry to bug again, but i was wondering if milk is ok during induction so long as it doesnt push you over the 20 carb mark. i know that a cup of milk has around 11 carbs, is this ok?

    No.

    I'd strongy suggest you get yourself a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution and read it. It's not just about the 20 grams of carb - it's about WHERE those 20 grams come from and they are to come from *very* specific sources.

    Knowledge is power, and Cliff Notes efforts yield Cliff Notes results. You deserve success, but you're going to have to invest your time for it!

      Hi, Ryte, Brook is right, reading the book is really the best way for success. It will tell you that milk is full of lactose, which is what class? A sugar.
      In place of milk we generally use heavy cream, the stuff that floats to the top and leaves the milk and carbs behind. To dilute it we use like half water and while its not particularly good for drinking, but it is good as cocoa, or in recipes that call for milk.

        The first step should be memorizing the Acceptable Foods List. If it isn't on the list or even the quantity found on the list, you shouldn't eat it. At the moment, the only dairy allowed is cheese and heavy cream, and both are limited amounts.
