In most cases it usually turns up as low potassium so you could try supplementing. Be sure to keep up your water as low water intake is sometimes to blame.
because of the naturasl diuretic effect of the eating plan and the increase in your fluid intake your water soluble vits and minerals get depleted. if you don't make good food choices from the acceptable food lists and supplement for the poor choices you make you can be depleted in electrolytes and muscle cramps is an early symptom of that. you can discuss it with your doc and then take the amount of OTC potassium they recommend for you or you can use one of the sodium free salt subs mixed with your regular salt if you are a heavy salter or straight if you are a light salter and get back to a healthy level.
I agree with 2big on this but also I recommend discussing this with you doctor. I have known many many people whatever diet or size to suffer from this problem, chronic in my case. I have not tried this but I have heard many many success stories from all walks of life describing the success of presciptive quinine ( not in a G&T necessarily) to ease the problems. Would love some feedback from this on anyone on the ADDB board.
