  • Day 3: Optimistic

Yesterday I was a bit discouraged since I'd retained so much water I only lost about .5 pounds ("only" ha). But today was pretty awesome. Normally when I weigh myself, I weigh myself with clothes on (this includes military issue 6" boots). So I stepped on the scale this morning and saw that my weight was only two pounds heavier than yesterday with my clothes off. I can't really repeat what I said at the time due to language regulation, but I eagerly got down to my tightie whites to see I'd lost three pounds in a day. Now I know a lot of that was because I'd retained and urinated so much of the water out yesterday, but still, that's like 1.75 lbs/day, and you consider I probably wasn't on ketosis my first day. I'm just really psyched that this may be working, and in the scale I'd wanted which I honestly wasn't sure I was gonna get seeing how I have less weight to lose than many of the forum regulars.

I fast every year for Ramadan (this year I had to cut it short since my metabolism wasn't slowing down - hopefully that will kick in for this diet), so dietary discipline really isn't a problem with me. I sincerely hope I can keep this pace up and actually reach my sorta utopian goal of losing 20 (half-goal) pounds in my first month. A couple questions quickly:

I noticed I urinated a lot, like more than usual even given the retention I induced the previous day. Is this how it's supposed to be? I'm also having very moderate stomach pains. Is this normal as well during the first stages of induction? Thanks a lot, and thanks for the initial support you've given.

how much did you increase your water intake over what you were drinking before Atkins? Its gotta go somewhere I peed a LOT the first few weeks. it will level out and you wont be peeing every 5 minutes. give it some time.

Stomach pains, I had as well with the induction flu. along with headaches, general yucky feelings etc.

Keep at it!! and dont get hung up on that scale. its a lying machine be sure to take your measurements with a tape measure. thats the most honest way of charting progress!
