  • Day 14 Should I stay on Induction ?

Ok , here is the situation - I have reached day 14. Iin week 1 I lost 5.5lbs in week 2 I have put on 1lb - however, My clothes feel better, I have loads more energy a reduced appetite with no cravings. Should I move on from on induction , I am loathed to due to my lack of weight loss and indeed weight gain but not sure whether this is normal, Can you stall in induction ?

    Advice would be appreciated

    Regards

It would probably be a wise thing for you to stay on induction to be honest.

There are lots of people who have pauses or hesitations in their weight loss during the 3-4th weeks....maybe you are doing it in week 2. If you want to stay on induction for a while longer, that's okay...but be prepared to not lose anything(be prepared for the worst). To me....if I'm going to hesitate on the scale, I'd rather do it eating more vegetables!!!!!! Rung 1 of OWL is more veggies...and they are really important...and could possibly jolt your body into losing again with a higher carb level.

I've lost over 60 lbs doing the OWL phases...don't be afraid of them and stay on induction...too many people do that.

You have a 50 pound weight loss goal. You lost 4-5 pounds. We can expect to lose between 5 to 10% of the weight we need to lose during the first 2 weeks of Atkins. You have lost about 10%. So for that point of view you are on target.

You should look at the Metabolic Resistance Charts in Chapter 12 or 13 of the book and see where you fall on those charts. From there you can decide how to plan your Atkins.

Whatever you decide to do, just remember the last 5-10 pounds are to be lost on Pre-Maintenance according to Dr. Atkins. And also remember the folks who skip over the remaining weight loss phases (On Going Weightloss Phase and Pre-Maintenance Phase) sometimes encounter difficulties maintaining their goal weight for any reasonable amount of time.

Good decision Bekra, keep yourself all "knowledged up". The book is so useful and important.
