  • How long should I stay in induction?

    Hello all,

I just started induction on Tuesday. I am currently at 222 lbs and I am pushing to lose 40 lbs by Feb/06 (my wedding in Argentina) and then continue untill I reach a comfortable weight (150-165). I am also exercising 3 times a week with a personal trainer and I try to go an extra 2 times a week for a 1 hr class. How long do you guys think I should stay in induction for? I know that losing too much weight too fast is not too good but I have to get my wedding dress altered in Januery so the more I lose the better for me. Also if any of you have any ideas or sugestions of things I can do to speed up my weight loss even more that would be great.
    Thanks.
    START DATE: OCT 17,2006 @ 222 LBS
    GOEL WEIGHT: FEB, 2007 @ 180 LBS

This is my wedding dress and I must look like her by Feb 2007

    hi.

If you haven't read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition (DANDR 2002), I recommend that you do so.

Induction is a minimum of 14 days. On Day 14, weigh and measure yourself. Then look up the amount of weight you lost on the Metabolic Charts in Chapter 13 of the book. That will give you an idea of how easily you can lose weight on Atkins. And that will help you plan your Atkins through.

Whatever you decide, it is not a good idea to stay on Induction until you have reached goal. Dr. Atkins said that the last 5-10 pounds must be spent in Pre-Maintenance Phase. From the collective experience of this board, it would be a good idea to spend the majority of your weight loss in On-Going Weight Loss Phase (OWL) because that is the phase where you learn how to eat for your body and lifestyle.

    Good luck to you.
