  • 12th Day on Induction

I'm on my 12th day of Induction and I'm feeling really frustrated. I am a 5' 5" Female weighing 154lbs and my goal weight is 135. I have only lost one pound so far and I have been soooo tired since I've started this diet. I have not cheated once, exercising for at least 30 minutes 4 to 5 days per week and I'm taking 1 multi-vit, 2 calcium, 2 fish oil and 2 fiber caps daily. What is wrong with me!! I see so many people losing significant weight even in the first week and I'm almost done with Induction and only 1lb lost!! Then the tiredness is getting really frustrating. I'm even struggling to keep my eyes open at work. Any advice?

      Re: 12th Day on Induction

My typical day goes something like this:

Breakfast: 2 hard boiled or fried eggs
      2 turkey sausages

Snack: 1oz cheese or hard boiled egg

      Lunch: 1 cup romaine
      1 cup spinach
      1/2 cup grilled chicken

Supper: Salmon or chicken (usually baked)
      1 cup Broccoli steamed broccoli

Snack: 1 cup of coffee with splenda and 1 tsp heavy cream.

      Does this seem right?

        Re: 12th Day on Induction

        Hi.

During the first 14 days of Induction, all of us can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose. So a person with a 100 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 5-10 pounds. A person with a 10 pound goal can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound.

You have a 20 pound goal. So you can expect to lose 1 to 2 pounds. Which means you're right on track!

Did you take your measurements when you started as Dr. Atkins advised us to do?

Also, in terms of your menu, if that coffee isn't decaf, you might want to ditch it. Caffeine can cause blood sugar instability. So, you might want to lay off the caffeine for a while. Also make sure you are only eating the amount of food that satisfies your hunger. It's possible to overeat 'legal' food and not lose weight. And you might want to vary your veggies. Lettuce and spinach are extremely low carb. For some people dropping too low can cause symptoms like fatigue, irritability, etc. So try to eat the salad veg with a bit more carbs, fiber and nutrients.
