    Hello all,
I am new to the board I am on Induction day 7 yah! with no cheats. I am doing quite well food wise. It seems as if I now have an addiction to the scale. I know that it is reccommended to weigh only after 14 days but I cant seem to help myself. I get on the scale SEVERAL times a day! I really need help with this, if anyone has any helpful tips please fill me in.

    Thank you

The scale is EVIL! There are several no-weigh challenges going on around the board. it's never too late to join one!

        Re: Scale addiction

#1 put the scale far far away...in the garage; buried ina garbage bag in the back yard; give it to the neighbor to "hold"; throw it away and "visit" one at the local Walmart when you visit to buy your supplies; give it to your significant other to hide.

#2 break out the tape measure and start watching the pounds disappear FASTER, yes, I said faster, than the pounds.

#3 enjoy feeling your clothes get looser and looser
#4 remember the number on the scale DOES NOT define who you are as a person

OMG the only and I mean ONLY time I weigh (unless I want to TORTURE MYSELF) is first thing in the morning....after going to the bathroom....with NO CLOTHES on....and Before I eat or drink ANYTHING!

If you are weighing through the day, you are weighing everything you eat and drink on top of what you really weigh. If you're female especially, you know that we swell by the afternoon....all that is additional water weight and will weigh more too. It is nothing for me to weigh 6 lbs more in the evening than I do in the morning.

              Re: Scale addiction

From a former scale addict, believe me, you can make it. Go find your tape measure, snuggle up together and get to know each other a little better. Or a pair of tight fitting pants... though I think the tape measure sticks around even after you're too small to wear the pants anymore.

does the number on your scale effect how you feel about yourself and all the hard work you are doing working your Atkins? if not then you have nothing to fear from scale numbers.

it is only the scalenumberaphobics who allow the number on their scale to determine how they feelabout themselves and their hard work that need to avoid the scales.

even using the tapemeasure can became an addiction and can ha e the same effect. Embrace the knowledge that while worling your Atkins you will become a healtheir smaller person with some days of loss, some of no detectable change and even some days iof encrease but overal th4 finally results will be downward.

Wise words from 2big here, which we should all embrace
I have been one of the frequent weighers over my years of Atkineering but have never let the constant fluctuations over the day and weeks upset my day.
In fact I found it fascinating and made a 'game' of trying to work out if there were any factors affecting the weightshifts that I could improve on - I found that upping my water intake was one!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Movingforward, How great the scale is already out of the house! That's amazing. To me it's all about focus, there is only so much time, and I think our focus should be on the parts of this wol, we can control, the eating, the exercsing and the water consumption...
I weigh once a week and I measure once a week...Just finished the 2 week no weigh! challange, and it was a good experience, just went about the business of atkins and life.
I did get caught up in it for a while but some very trusty vetrans kept telling me not to worry the weight would come off. It is coming off, and I have so many other things to concentrate on now...as you keep moving into the first couple of months, things get more settled into a routine and way of life...the scales play a small part.

                      Re: Scale addiction

Thanks 2big4mysize but No, the number on the scale is not a determinant of my self-worth. I just liked t see how foods/drinks affected my weight. The problem is I was starting to obsess about it. For now the problem is solved and I just have to take it one day at a time. I am beautiful regardless of scale numbers or measurements as are you
