  • I Can't Believe It... Is It Temporary?

I'm really thankful for this bulletin board. I'm on the 6th day of induction and all of my questions have been answered and I've been so inspired by the post here.

I've lost 11.5 pounds so far on induction. I did a few hard workouts (tae bo) during the week and ate 4 Atkins bars (I had serious cravings and thought that they'd be much better than a Snickers).

Anyways, I was wondering if I were to stay on induction would this kind of weight loss last? I'm almost to my one month goal in less than a week and it seems logical that it'll slow down some but I'm wondering how much. What are your experiences with it?

You can stay on induction safely for longer than 2 weeks, and many choose to do that if they have a lot of weight to lose. How much do you have to lose? You should lose 5-10% of the total weight you'd like to lose during induction. 11.5 pounds is fantastic--make sure you're drinking your water--this helps "flush out the fat."

You might want to think about staying on induction and doing it "cleanly"--no Atkins bars, no shakes (they have ingredients in them that aren't appropriate for induction and LOTS of people experience slowing or stalling when they consume them) no caffiene--by the book. This helps rid the body of cravings and helps to establish good eating patterns that you will continue throughout this WOL. I did not do a clean induction and I really was disappointed in myself--I was having issues with cravings and portion control that was not resolved those first two weeks...so I went back, about 6 weeks in, and did a CLEAN induction--even after all that time low-carbing, I lost 7lb. the first week of my "clean" induction.

If you are getting closer to your goal weight, you might want to think about moving on to OWL after induction. That way you will have more food choices, such as yogurt, nuts, and berries. Make sure you add the rungs slowly, and with enough time for your body to adjust--you will also be able to see what foods give you cravings, or what foods stall your weight loss.

Congrats again, and good job on the 11.5lb.!

thelosing weight wioll continue as long as you have weight ot lose and you work your Atkins BUT the speed of the loss will slow dramitically after the initial 14 days whether you stay in induction or move to OWL. remember your goal should be a new healtheir smaller you for the rest of your life so it really doesn't matter how long it takes does it?
