anyone to only lose 5.2 in the induction phase?? Actually I'm back up 1.4 lbs. I don't know what's up but I'm getting very discouraged. I've been putting more fats into my diet. Such as: mayo and butter. I use Hellman's and Land O Lakes. I did really well my first week, I thought. I even stopped drinking Crystal Light and started to drink all of my water requirements. Maybe I shouldn't drink so much water. I don't know but I'm overwhelmed by this now. I only drink 1 cup of coffee a day which does have caffeine but I'm lucky if I finish the whole cup. Sometimes I just have 1/2 cup but I do put 2 splenda's and 1 Tablespoon of Heavy Whipping Cream. What do ya'll think so far? Should I do w/out the coffee all together or keep on keepin' on?? Thanks ya'll so much!!!

Your weight loss will bounce around...mine does it all the time. Don't let that discourage you. Let me also tell you, drink MORE water. I've been in a stall for weeks...and once I upped my water (almost doubling it, in fact) I've been steadily losing a pound a day this week. When you think you've drank enough water, drink some more! I'm drinking over a gallon a day...when I was only drinking 64-70 oz before. WATER WATER WATER!

5 pounds is terrific amount of weight to be gone forever. If you don't think it is, then go to the supermarket and pick up a 5 pound bag of flour or dog food so you can feel how heavy 5 pounds are.
Weight loss is also very individual. We can expect to lose between 5-10% of the weight we need to lose during the first 14 days of Atkins. So people with a 100 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 5-10 pounds. People with a 10 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound.
You might want to read the stickie thread called "Weight loss is not linear", in this forum.
Also, we are not allowed "unlimited" anything on Atkins. We only eat the amount of food that satisfies our hunger. That amount is physicially a set point because our stomachs have a certain capacity. Furthermore, ketosis/lipolysis is a natural appetite suppressant. So if you are "feeling hungry" or are "craving" foods, you might want to review your current menu and remove any foods that are know to upset blood sugar stability.

I'll have to look at the pepperoni's that you have to cut up yourself and see what the ingredients are in them. I've already decided to lay off the pepperoni today just to see if that helps b/c of the sodium. You've encouraged me to get my water jug out and drink up. Thank ya'll.

yep reads the FAQ pn why water is important to weight loss and you will be guzzling it.
like not2late said nothing is unlimited. Dr Atkins didn't limit any foods except the carbs sweetners and cheese, BUT he did say to feed only your hunger not fill up your belly. activation of stretch receptors in your stomache have nothing to do with hunger satsifaction. Learn what hunger is and the physical symptoms of it. then you cn feed only your hunger and you will be a big loser.by the book atkinseer
