  • New member started induction!

Hi Everyone. My name is Tenishia and I started the diet today, Monday October 30 for the real first time. I ate really good today, even though I had a lot of salad dressing, Caesar Vinegrette. It has less than one gram of sugar, and 1 gram of carb, but I ate like a cup of it for a whooping 9 g of carb, and I had 11 g of carbs from cabbage, and my salad. I stayed under 20 g and drank 100 ounces of water. I will try to stay clear of all that salad dressing and use lemon juice instead. I am weighing in at 208 pounds, and my biggest fear is the weekends with friends and alcohol. Can you offer any suggestions? thanks

    Hi Tenishia,
Glad you are here. Looks like you are a little stuck with the dressing right now. Keep trying to find replacements for the excessive dressing (i.e. lemon juice, etc...). Also, no one said you have to have salads in the form of dressing and green leaves. There are other veggies you can have instead...Maybe that will help you avoid the dressing.

As far as this weekend goes...there will always be weekends that cause you to second guess getting a hold of your weight issues. If it's not this weekend, it will be the next. Then it will be the fact that it is Halloween, then, within 3 weeks, it will be Thanksgiving....What about all the Christmas parties....I am sure somebody you know will be having a birthday, baby shower, bridal shower, engagement party...(you fill in the blank) in the near future.

So I guess the real question will be whether any "weekend" is worth it. Having recently fallen off the wagon and gained back 11 lbs in just one month...I am realizing the hard way that it's not worth it. Hope you do the same (realize its not worth it that is....I'm sure not hoping you fall off the wagon!)

    GOOD LUCK!

      Hi Teneshia
I have split your question and the response to it into a new thread so it doesnt get muddled up with the post it turned up in!

To start a new thread is easy if you click on the button called 'New Thread' in the forum list of threads, rather than clicking on the 'Reply' button.

Well done on drinking your water

As for the friends/alcohol scenario - you will have to plan a strategy for staying on plan over the weekends.
Some people offer to be the designated driver which gives them an acceptable reason not to drink booze.
Others tell their friends they are trying not to drink alcohol and ask them to support their decision by watching their back and helping them stay on soft drinks while out.
Others decide to give the evening a miss for a few weeks till they are more confident in their Atkineering and able to withstand any peer pressure.

Only you know which solution will help you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
