  • More fat !

I'm laughing because this has certainly never been a diet problem for me before. My fitday percentages are telling me that I need to eat more fat today. I've never been on a diet that said that before. I'm loving this!

      Re: More fat !

Isn't it a joy that you are on a diet that allows you to eat things that you always wanted? The fat percentages are important as they are part of getting you into ketosis and acclimated your body to this WOE. Trying to skimp by doing low fat especially during Induction is only going to be problematic and lead to less than desirable results. Keep it up!

remember you need to make every meal in the right ratios so you don't play fat catch up later.

I'm trying to do that. I think that one meal just caught up with me though and the protein outweighed the fat. I'm learning to plan my whole day and plug it all into Fitday in the morning to see how each meal is. I'm even getting the hang of veggies at breakfast!

mystical--an easy way to balance out your protein and fat is by adding a pat of butter to your meal (like on your veggies, or even on your meat). If I'm too high in protein, just adding one little pat of butter usually fixes the ratios perfectly!

Yum, I will say, that before Atkins, I hardly ever ate butter. Now I don't know how I lived without it!!!

Good idea. Oh gosh, I know.. I love butter. I used to feel guilty when I bought it and now I'm never without it! (But I'm really missing the toast under it though! Hope that passes soon!)

                    Re: More fat !

just remember you don't want to add more food if you are already eating enough to satisfy your hunger. you want to shift some of your food from proteins to fats and it only needs to be a small change like a teaspoon of fat instead of a tablespoon of protein.

I admit that it's actually *harder* for me to introduce more fats into my diet. I've actually never been one to eat a lot of fat, so eating fatty foods tends to make me feel icky inside. There are foods I really have a hard time putting down - bacon especially. I pretty much have to cook it down to the point it's burnt if I wanna eat it and not feel crappy afterwards.

Antrel... try just some little changes, it makes a big difference. Some butter on your veggies, scramble eggs in butter, a little extra dressing on your salad. You can make some dip with sour cream for veggies.

                        Hope that helps!

you don't have to eat more fatty stuff you don't like . Skip the bacon just add a teaspoon of olive oil to saute your foods in and eat the pan drippings or add a bit of a full fat dressing. remember it takes very little added fat to change the whole ratio
