  • Thank God for Atkins

I am really new to the diet . I have a husband and four children. I have never been really skinny but before I had my third child I wore a size 8 jeans. Well those are the good ol' days now I am in an 18 jean. I haven't really tried to lose it until now. I have been in denial really. I never look at myself in a full length mirror and I have no clothes because I hate to go try them on. Well I am ready for a life change. I want to prove to my children that a little will power goes a long way. I want to prove to my daughter that I do love myself. I do love me I am just now realizing how much. Well I am so glad I found all of you and I will keep you posted on my progress.

    Re: Thank God for Atkins

Welcome Sheila! Atkins sure has made my life a *lot* better.

The best advice I can give you is to forget everything you've ever heard about Atkins in the media, or that anyone's told you. Get Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition and read it for yourself.

Stay close to ADBB and post regularly. We'll be here to support you, guide you, cheer with you, cry with you, every step of the way.

I do believe I will need all the help I can get. I will be the only one dieting in my house so this is my only support. Thanks so much for the encouragement!

                  Re: Thank God for Atkins

Welcome Sheila! So happy your ready to make a committment to yourself to get healthy and set a good example for your kids. Don't look at Atkins as a diet. This is a lifestyle change that will make you thinner and healthier for life, not just temperary weight loss. As I started my new WOE/WOL, I developed a whole new attitude towards the changes I was making. I never felt deprived or miserable because I was 'dieting'. Instead, I looked at it as an opportunity to change the bad habits and develop new healthy ones. Follow the program as Dr. Atkins suggested and make sure you incoorporate exercise into your daily routine. It keeps you feeling strong and happy and lose weight faster.

You're not alone. We are all here cheering you on and want to see you succeed. Keep us posted on your success!!

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.
