  • Starting atkins today (11/14/06)

    hello all,
im starting induction today. Hopefully it works out and i dont get tempted at lunch today, cause my school cafeteria has like ZERO food that is atkins approved. Maybe ill have to bring my own lunches

    Goal weight: 170
    current Weight: 193
    Goal BF%: 10-14%

Here is my ideal menu, tell me if this puppy works for atkins
Breakfast- dont know yet, as i hate eggs and puke every time i have them
Snacks- Either Unsalted Peanuts or Cheddar Cheese Slices
Lunch- Hot Wings perhaps, or Chicken Strips
Dinner- Hamburger with no bun, Chicken Caesar Salad(without crutons, dressing, just plain)

how does that sound to everyone?

At a glance, I notice you have peanuts listed. Unfortunately they are not induction frienfly. Also, I don't see any vegetables listed either. You need to be getting 3 cups of allowed veggies into your daily menu also.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Congratulations on wanting to start Atkins, and I wish you luck. Have you read the book?

For breakfast you can eat anything you like from the allowed list - so there is loads of choice other than eggs!! I dont think I have had eggs once for breakfast in 3 years or more.

Try to have some of your veggies carbs at each meal or snack to spread them out across the day too - 2-3 cups from the 'salad veg' list including radishes, cucumber, peppers, celery and lettuces plus one cup from the 'other list' including broccolli & cauliflower if you only have 2 cups from the first list.

You can have dressing on your salad if you choose fullfat ones with no added sugar as we do need to keep our fat intake up!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
