  • Starting on Saturday...11/18/06

Everybody thinks I'm crazy to begin a "diet" this close to the holidays. What
they don't understand is that this is not a diet, this is going to be the new
WOE for me. I know my own self-sabatoge issues, and I need to prove to myself that I can stick to this, even during the tempting holidays. I came to
a realization a few days ago that in most every other area of my life, I give myself no room to slack. I go to work...I have no choice...I don't call in when I feel like...I just go. I have to approach my new WOE the same...I have no choice...this is the way it needs to be for my heath and my goals.
I have written out my reasons for losing weight...the big top TEN, and the rewards every 25 lbs of my new journey. Though i'd love for the journey to go quickly, I know my body enough to know that it will be a fight and a long journey...but I also know...I will make it...I will
Pray for me & mine, Anne

Having your mind made up in advance and entertaining no arguments is the way to conquer temptation. Congratulations on the best decision you will ever make in your life.

Be sure to eat plenty of healthy food from the induction appropriate list and stay full. This is a glorious, ABUNDANT way of life!

          Dear Anne

I also re-started a couple of weeks ago and i'm coming up to the end of my induction - I made a concious decision to start this close to the holidays, because I know when I get through them, clean and in control, there will be no stopping me!!

You are commited to yourself and that is the best present one could wish for!

So tomorrow morning, jump out of bed, start drinking your water and think that this is the first day of the rest of your life!

          I'll be thinking of you!

              Great resolve.

Let me give you one small warning. For me the holidays have not been much of a problem. The problems always sneak up on me. I'm doing great on Monday. On Tuesday I don't get to prepare and eat good food. I get bored with whatever I am having to eat. Then the real threats start.

You will do great. But just know that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving may be the biggest challenge!

                Hello Anne,

I think your timing is fabulous! This woe will help you feel strong and healthy during the holidays, instead of weighed down and groggy from the overeating that traditionally goes with the holidays.

                    Re: Starting on Saturday...11/18/06

hey everybody...you guys have been so sweet....lol. I started actually on
Sunday & Sunday went fab....until today. OMG>..I can seriously say that
I am an addict...I think I need a rehab center like the heroin addicts have...not trying to be funny but my goodness...the attachment to carbs is crazy. I messed up today, I did...my work around these holidays has food everywhere..its so hard to say no..and today...i didn't. I had a piece(a very small one) of cheesecake. From that point on,...i was gone. I fell so far off the akins wagon that I am so ashamed...but even though I fell off...at least I realize I'm an addict. Just like an alcoholic cannot say "just this one sip"...I don't think I can say "just this one taste"...I understand why Dr Atkins says one taste will hurt you...because we can't have just one taste. One taste, leads to another and another and another..and before long you are binging...and I 've never binged before. Man oh man...why is the addiction so strong?
Sooo...I am getting back on the Atkins wagon a lot more humble & more careful. I have to be determined...if I can get thru the first week with no more stumbles..it should be cooll....i have got to get past those carbo cravings....
Otherwise the day was beautiful but really really cold. I saw flurries...in Atlanta!!!! OMG>>>>>

                      Re: Starting on Saturday...11/18/06

I am sorry you slipped and fell, but at least you now know that you need to be more prepared to stick to the allowed foods list

So you need to prepare 'legal' snacks for those times you feel you 'have' to eat something, so you dont feel deprived and give in to that 'just one bite' that little voice in your head suggests.

                      You can do it
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
