  • Am I eating too much cheese and too many eggs?

I'm a bit concerned I'm eating too much cheese and too many eggs. In two weeks I've ate one of the 2lbs. bricks of cheddar and 48 eggs.

I'm also a little confused about this. On the dinner sausage I have it says they have 1g of sugar per serving. Are we allowed absolutely no sugar or is it ok like that? Usually I have half the sausage so it's around 3.5g of sugar per serving. I believe the same goes for the sauerkraut in the jar and a couple other foods.

Lastly, I mix my tuna with Best Foods mayo. It says 0 carbs and 0 sugar but it lists sugar in the ingredients. Is this going to screw me up if I have a few tablespoons with two cans of tuna?

If you spread it out equally throughout the 14 days, you've been eating 3-4 eggs a day and 2-3oz of cheese. Both of these are fine.

Normally, you should try to find some sausage that has no sugar, but I imagine that you'll be ok with this. Also, most mayos have some sugar in them to a degree. I believe Duke's has no sugar, but I don't know where you get it. I use Hellman's and it seems fine for me. Everyone is different though!

you need to be looking for sugar in the ingredients lists of your foods not the nutritional label. those sugars can be natural as they are in all the raw legal veggies we can have.

with your sausages you need to see if your ingredients are legal if they are then it is.

if your kraut is the kind that is cabbage and vinager with maybe some spices it is legal but if youhave bavarian which will have sugar in the ingredient label that is not legal.

Not2late has a whole post in the induction forum stickies about other ingredients we should consider to be sugar too.

as Higgies did the math on your cheese and aggs you are within the limits on the cheese of 4 ounces a day for induction. eggs are only limited by your hunger as we oinly eat enough food when we eat to satisfy our hunger and then stop even if we got room in our belly food still on the plate and/or carbs in our budget.

If that is what is working for you keep it up. That is how I lost my first 30 pounds when I first tired Atkins 2 yrs ago. Warning, as I learned the hard way. You may grow tired of eggs and never want to see one for a while. I went through that too.

I was grocery shopping last week and I picked up a lot of different sausages and all of them were loaded with sugar. Usually Italian Sausage is okay but Johnsonville were not. I finally brought home some pork and made my own.

Yeah, the Jimmie Dean I use have 1g of sugar. I've been eating these since I started induction. I'm not saying it's legal...I think Habersett's might be better, but I think it's only available here in limited locations.

You should tally all the carbs (less grams fiber) in your day's intake, even if it doesn't come from veggies. www.fitday.com is an excellent resource to help you track them, as well as percentages of protein, fats and carbs per day.

My rule of thumb, (based on the fact that the government allows labels to say "0 grams" of something if in a single serving, there is .49 grams or less of it), is for anything like that sausage with "0 carb" on the label but something like a sugar or starch in the ingredients, count as 1, for 1-2 servings.

Interestingly, I've noticed over recent years a lot of labels adjusted their serving sizes down so the foods could take advantage of the "0g" allowed for under 1/2g amounts. LOL
