  • Gutted

Hi everyone just finished my 2 week induction on wednesday, i lost 5lbs the first week and only 1lb the second week gutted. I havent cheated at all ive been drinking 20 glasses of water a day and exercising alot been walking at least 2 hrs a day and swimming for 45 mins 5 times a week all that hard work to lose just a pound. I was wondering could it be the exercise, i heard that when u first start your muscles hold onto water for a while? or could it be the fact that i only have a stone and a half to lose alltogether?

6 lbs in two weeks is ok. It all depends on how much you have to lose. If you dont have that much weight to lose in the first place then it will come off slower.

Also, people lose at different speeds. I wouldnt worry unduly if I were you, as atleast its coming off.

Can I ask. What was your starting weight, and what is your goal weight? also, how tall are you?

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

        Re: Gutted

10st 2lbs is 142 lbs. Which compared to most people on this board is a lot smaller. At that rate. 6 lbs from 142 is not that bad at all.

In the first couple of weeks of induction a decent rule of thumb is that you will lost approx 10% of what you need to lose. If it puts your mind at rest, that means you are spot on.

        I hope that helps

stopping smoking can slow metabolism and it can also cause fluid retention but you have done a fantastic jopb starting your Atkins. the reat of loss is always fast the first week and then slowes to a more normal rate after that. keep working your Atkins as you move up to OWL.

chemicals in ciggies are diuretics with that steady suppy of them your body cut back on its natural diuretic supple to maintain the balance and now has to step it up and it takes a but for the body to get it right.

Great post and great going. To go on a diet and quit smoking is a lot to take on and your absolutely amazing. Don't fret over the pounds, instead consentrate on your new found health, on how much new energy that you have, and for an added bonus, try on those tight pants and you might be pleasantly surprized.

                    Welcome to ADBB.
