Re: Newbie
Welcome to our ADBB family, Lauren
My favourite tip is 'Read the Book' - Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 (abbreviated here to DANDR 2002)
Another good tip is to plan ahead - failing to plan is planning to fail!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

My best tips are:

Re: Newbie
Let me tell you that before I started Atkins I had been binging for 46 years and I didn't believe that anything, anything could ever change for me. So first of all know that miracles will happen with this program.
The next step is to get educated. Read everything you can from this website, there is an avalanche of wisdom here.
Be sure and read all the stickies at the top of this forum
and get the 2002 DANDR.
Next, get rid of all the carbage in your house and start eating alot of healthy food. LOTS and lots. I eat lots of food and it keeps me from gaining weight.
And if you were a former fan of the low fat diet, just forget everything you thought you knew. Most of all, keep coming back!

Re: Newbie
days 3-4 are the hardest for me. Hope you are still doing well.
My tips to you....
1 read the book many times and not just the chapter about induction. Reading the other chapters will help you know what is really happening in your body.
2 drink your water. my body tends to hold on to the pounds if i dont drink atleast 64oz
3 remember that food ALWAYS smells better then it taste. that was a very helpful quote for me202.5/165/145
first goal-172 HIT 3/22/09
second goal-168 HIT 4/3/09
third goal-162 HIT 4/30/09 &
fourth goal-158
fifth goal- 152
sixth goal- 149
final goal- 145

Re: Newbie
Wow I am a newbie too. I have a long way to go and I am starting today. I have tried this diet before and the longest I have ever gotten through it was 21 days with a 18 lb weight loss. I know that should have kept me motivated but it didnt. I felt like oh I found something that will work so I can go on it at anytime when I get eating out of my system. Oh how wrong that was. After feeling that way I tried going back on it and only found I could do 3 days before cheating. Dieting all my life has gotten me unmotivated an I dont know what to do. I just need a little support, and maybe this forum can do that for me!Last edited by n1divas; November 27, 2006, 11:22 AM.

Re: Newbie
Again, I have to say thanks a million for the encouragement Jane. I know I am only on day one and all, but already I have been pacing the kitchen. I decided to get back online, and then after lunch read a book. I am not really hungry.........just used to eating I guess. I havnt figured out how to put pics on this thing........any advice? I want to include it on my siggy- I think the fattest pic that I have before I began hiding from the camera is at about 240 lbs, but I would like to post it as a reminder.

Re: Newbie
Hi Stephanie
To get your photo into your signature it needs to be somewhere on the internet, many people use picture hosting sites but you can also upload one to this site if you click on the ADBB Gallery link.
Once you have the url for the photo you can add it as a picture when you edit your signature by pasting the url (starting with http and ending with .jpg) between image tags which look like this [img] and [/img] with no spaces between them and the URL.
Hope this helpsWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
