Ok...I have a habit of coming home from work and wanting a snack. I get home at 11pm. Does anyone know what I can do to help this...or maybe have an idea of what I can snack on that is super low in carbs....thanks

Re: Late night snacking
I had the same problem. I'd eat every night while watching tv. I found if I committed to doing exercises and drinking water it helped me keep focused on what was important. Other ideas are to brush your teeth when you feel the urge to snack, make up acceptable snacks in porportion baggies if you have to snack, write in your journal, come here to the ADBB and get motivated to keep on track. After a few weeks, you'll find that your new routine becomes a habit and you'll feel less like eating in the evenings. I've stopped eating past 7pm at night. This was my rule for myself. I'd clean the kitchen and consider it closed for the night. Best wishes! You can do it - it is so worth the effort!Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Re: Late night snacking
That happened to me last night. I was already in bed but I just had to have something, just a little something.
So it was a couple tiny slices of sausage and cheddar cheese. It satisfied my hunger and didn't add any carbs.

Re: Late night snacking
It's hard when you're working an odd shift, or getting home late, I have the same problem, because I'm up late at night.
What you can snack on then depends on how much you've had that day already, but if you have carbs left to use, or haven't eaten all your veggies that day, etc, you can eat a piece of celery with a little bit of cream cheese, some sausage slices and a little cheese like winter suggested, any low carb snack that you'd snack on during the day. A few olives, stuff like that.
I think the not going 6 hours without eating plays into that too, by the time you get home, has it been over 6 hours since you ate? Don't forget to eat a little something before the 6 hours is up. It's not a great idea to eat before bed, but I think our busy, odd hours lifestyle makes that difficult for some people.
Usually just a little something will do, it doesn't take much to satisfy most of the time.

Re: Late night snacking
Yeah , that's probably why I gained most of my weight in the first place. But it truelly is a HABIT that one needs to break. I would also try a little piece of cheese (part of allowance) - that normally fills one up quickly, although I am going to try and follow the advise above & implement a 7 o'clock cutt-off time for snacking. Best to break the habit once and for all

Re: Late night snacking
i dont get home until 1am or a little before. No matter how badly i want something to eat i dont. I had a problem with eating to much and most of the bad stuff was at night. I'm trying to fix that problem so i just avoid eating after dinner.202.5/165/145
