I'm British and as such utterly addicted to tea. Is a tiny splash of milk OK if i count it as part of my carb allowance, or am i doomed to drink vile herbal infusions for a fortnight? Advice gratefully recieved.

    Re: tea

For the first two weeks Squiff you really should do a squeaky clean induction. Which involves no caffeine what so ever.

And a "tiny splash of milk" is a definite no no I am afraid. You are allowed cream, but not milk. If you go 2 weeks clean you will be amazed how you will break all cravings and no longer be addicted (I hope).

Thanks - i'll have a look at those. Looks like fruit infusions all round then. oh well, let's hope it's worth it ! I've been 'clean' so far (48 hours) resisting the tea and it's not been too hard (it'd be murder with my normal activity levels mind) so i'm thinking it'll all be fine.

I would advise that you drink nothing but water for the first 2 weeks. Not even the fruit infusions. You need to drink atleast 2 litres of water a day down (64oz) and then at least half a a further 1/4 a litre (8oz) for every 25 lbs you want to lose.

            hi Squiff

            I was a total tea-pot - over 10 cups a day!!!

But once you dont drink it for 2 weeks, you dont seem to miss it!! If anything, I've actually gone off drinking tea!! I tend to have a black decaf coffee now and again instead!

Good luck on your induction, I cant wait to see how you've done.

                    Re: tea

                    Hey Squiff,

I can also understand the tea-angst. Richt is right a clean induction with just water will do wonder for breaking addictions.

After that though, if you do miss tea it is worth getting some decaf tea, but make sure it's quite quality, otherwise it will be all chemically and taste horrible. I have Clipper organic decaf (from waitrose, but prob tesco and sainsburys too) which if you have black (and don't brew for as long as normal tea) doesn't have that tanniny punch that normal black tea does. It tastes just like normal tea to me now.

Decaf coffee with cream is also absolutely gorgeous.

I hope you're able to find a new favorite of drinking decafe teas when you're ready, Squiff

                        Re: tea

If you put your tea bag in the hot water for 30sec and disgard the water that will take the caffine out of your tea. Then you can reemerse your tea bag and finish the brew.
