  • Day 5/Need some ideas

Hello, my name is Shawna & yes I am Vasili's Wife(another Atkins believer)....

So I am on Day 5 of Induction, doing okay I guess. My husband is fine with eating nothing but cheese, meat, eggs & broccoli every single day of his life, I am very much not that type, which is why I am here.

I am decent in the kitchen & getting better. With atkins I am getting creative(pork rinds beaten until they look like bread crums, some raw egg & then try to make fried cheese sticks or chicken covered in pork rinds, actually the chicken is pretty darn good. Cheese sticks I will have to try again)

Anyway, my point: I do not know what a poached egg is. I do not know the difference between soft boiled & hard boiled eggs. Daikon, radicchio, mache, sorrel, kale, snow peas....I don't know what any of these are, much less how to cook them, what they taste like, where to get them, etc.

I like having options & I don't mind having to get creative. In this diet it is difficult not to feel like "those are all things I can't have", especially when I don't know about the things I can have, which leads me back to eating nothing but cheese, meat, eggs & brocolli every day for the last five days.

    Folks, any ideas, suggestions??

I see that you live in dallas...you may find some asian food shop and open yourself up to some asian veggies :bok choy, on choy, choy sum....you can steam or suatee them with some garlic and sesame oil, and soy sauce(w/o sugar). Daikon you can find there. They are good for salad..liek carrots and cucumbers...Becareful because daikon has a higher carb count..Cucumbers and the asian veggies I listed above are great starts...

I love, love the asian suggestions. That is something that I don't eat enough of and when I do, I love it.

Do you like spicy foods? One of my favorite things is jalepeno's (must be fresh) stuffed with cream cheese and topped with bacon. I prefer already cooked bacon. Then bake it in the oven until crispy. Spicy, but yum. Also, you could use mushrooms, etc...

One other favorite I have is zuccini with dips. A lot of people use cucumber, but I find that zuccini has a milder taste which brings out the flavor of the dip more, for me.

There is a great web-site, too. Can I say it here?
