  • AArrrrggghhhh!!!!

I am so damn weak! I only made it four days before I fell off the wagon..... I'm gonna try again starting today. Question: What foods should I stock up on for the two weeks of induction?? I've just gotta build up my willpower....Christmas is only a few weeks away and I would like to see a difference before then! Not to mention it would be nice if my family noticed a difference too! I need help! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Any suggestions on a daily routine...what to eat....when to exercise? I work in a call center which IMO makes it worse since I'm on my butt for 8 hours a day! Please help!

This link might give you some ideas on what to eat:

The first week is the hardest due to induction flu. I tried this time to keep my menus simple and make sure I have things I like(even when not low carbing) in the house. Deviled eggs, cheeses, roast beef lunch meat, etc.

Do you get a lunch break at work? Would it be possible to take a walk at that time?

Eat plenty of fat. The fat will make you feel FULL FULL FULL and help keep the cravings at bay.

I eat blue cheese salad dressing
the full 4 ounces of cheese daily--cream cheese is my friend
      red meats

Try to avoid the salty processed stuff

Chicken wings!! yay! Very high fat

Boil a dozen eggs and keep those handy. Mash them up with mayo for egg salad, nice and heavy and long lasting in your stomach.

        Re: AArrrrggghhhh!!!!

My induction "staples" are as follows:
        VEGGIES
        celery
        salad mix
        green peppers
        green beans
        spaghetti squash
        broccoli
        cauliflower
        pumpkin (unsweetened, NOT pie mix)

        CHEESE/DAIRY
        cheese sticks
        heavy cream
        butter
        shredded cheese
        eggs
        cream cheese
        sour cream

        MEAT
        fresh chicken breasts/tenders
        ground beef
        steak
        shrimp
        bacon (eat sparingly)
        turkey from the deli
        pepperoni

        MISC.
        stevia
        cinnamon
        good spices/seasonings
        olives

Basically I wasn't a big meal "planner"--I just always had enough friendly food to think up different combinations of meat, veggies, and cheese to suit my needs or whims. Even now for lunch, somedays if I'm lazy, I'll just grab green pepper slices, pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, and celery for a great and easy lunch. It's very important that you buy ENOUGH food that is legal--that way you have NO EXCUSES to eat off plan. Always bring something to eat with you, wherever you go...beef jerky is indestructable for this! (Hey I posted a recipe for beef jerky that is awesome--spicy beef jerky--way better than store-bought) You can also do a dozen hardboiled eggs and once and grab one and go if you're late for work, etc.

          Re: AArrrrggghhhh!!!!

What I did during Induction, was to look at the Induction Acceptable Foods list. I choose what foods I liked to eat and what foods I could prepare with relative ease. There are alot of foods on that list to pick and choose from. So it's hard for me to give you precise menues because individual tastes vary. For example, I ate chopped chicken liver omelettes during my Induction---I'm not sure you would want to do the same.

I typically eat leftovers for lunch. If you don't have access to a refrigerator, you might want to invest in a small insulated lunch bag or a small insulated cooler to bring with you to work. To keep your food cool/cold, you can freeze a couple bottles of water and put them, frozen, into your container. For hot or warm foods, I put them into a wide-mouth Thermos type container.

Her jerky is incredible. I would add something, but I think it's all been covered. Thanks Juli, now I *officially* feel useless. ;P

Oh. Walking at lunch is good, walking after work is good, are you part of a gym, have access to equipment? Just pick a time of day that's good for you and stick to it, if you're like, I can't go workout 'cause I have to do this instead, ask yourself if the other thing is really more important than your health and happiness. 9 out of 10 times, it's really not.

                  Re: AArrrrggghhhh!!!!

Buying some hand weights and a stability ball for home is a great idea too if you don't have access to a gym. Also check out our Exercise forum and the 'exercise of the day' they are all great exercises you can do at home!

http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=38504 you can browse thru the exercise forum and you'll find several, and Jess posts a new one daily.
When to exercise: there's much debate about this, morning evening etc. IMO, any exercise is better than no exercise at all no matter what time of day..just do it at the time of day that you are most likely to stick with it and is most convenient to you.

Good Job!!! One day at a time!! You should start up with us in the Journal Chats Forum - it's a great way to hold yourself accountable and have fun at the same time. Or there's the Journal Stats which is just where you hold yourself accountable... with what you ate, didn't eat, weight, exercise, etc.

Well got past day two! With my Wife making brownies even! She sat down right next to me and licked the mixing bowl! And then her and my children proceeded to eat them in front of me. I in turn ate a couple of chunks of creamcheese. Pure torture. But here I am on day three! 11 more days to go!
