Re: Chicken skin bad or ok
I agree - in fact if I have a recipe calling for skinless chicken I remove the skin and roast it in the oven to make 'chicken rinds' for snacking!
BUT - make sure there are no carby coatings on the skin if you are buying it readycooked. Some outlets brush the chickens with a sugar solution to make it brown better!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Chicken skin bad or ok
i've been getting some rotisserie (sp?) chicken from my local Albertsons, and the skin is always nice and brown! I'm wondering if they add some sugar coating to it to make it that color? It doesn't taste sweet. Should I avoid store made roasted chicken and just make my own? what about Boston Market chicken?150.6/140/130

Re: Chicken skin bad or ok
There might be a glaze, but if you just get the regular kind you should be ok. Don't get a BBQ or lemon flavored one, those definitely have glaze on them.Higgies

Re: Chicken skin bad or ok
Atkins Revolution states eating the skin is definately ok. You won't see your friends watching their calories doing that
. I think it's funny, because I'm losing more weight than them, and I am eating so much really good food like chicken skin.

Re: Chicken skin bad or ok
I agree, my favourite ever dinner is chicken thighs with the skins on (bones in place) - literally massaged in butter and cooked until brown and crispy on the outside soft and tender on the inside - a good portion of green vegetables also drowned in butter and a large glass of Gavi di Gavi (BTW I am in maintenance re; the wine) - probably my all time favourite meal.
Out of interest I don't eat much salt and have been travelling a while, get lots of leg cramps, will an increase in salt help? I am not dehydrated and take all the suggested vitamins. I usually suffer from the cramps when I am living in very dry atomospheres, ie: a/c it is the only thing that is bothering me after ten years of successful lc - Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Chicken skin bad or ok
I have to agree that the best part of the chicken is the skin, with wings being the second and then the thighs and legs....mmmmmmmmm yummy. Gotta love Atkins!
Condor, you might try using the no-salt which is potassium as opposed to sodium. Also look for foods rich in potassium.
Here is a link of foods with high potassium. On here you'll notice that avacado has 510 mg of potassium and a banana only has 338.
Some induction friendly foods have high mgs as well:
Beet greens 1/2 cup 417
Chard (large leaves) 1/2 cup 563
Spinach (fresh) 1/2 cup 440
