    Re: Weight bounce...

If by 'once you stop' he meant 'once you return to eating processed sugar-stuffed foods' then I believe he was correct. Returning to eating the unhealthy 'normal' choices of food eaten by the majority of the overweight population will inevitably lead to weight returning with maybe some extra pounds!!

But - many of us have resolved not to 'stop' eating Atkins ever.

I dont of course mean eating at induction levels of carbs and the limited choices for induction for ever, but following the four stages of Atkins and gradually adding wholesome foods like more veggies, dairy products, seeds & nuts, berries, wine and spirits, legumes (soy and other beans and peanuts), higher GI fruits, starchy vegetables and whole grains as described in the Ongoing Weightloss chapter of DANDR 2002.

By following the instructions in the OWL chapter and introducing these foods in the order suggested and the amounts laid down we are able to see what levels of carbs we can eat and still lose or maintain weight as well as find out if our bodies are upset by any particular foods.

Then once we reach goal we will have trained our bodies and minds to choose and eat those foods we can cope with and learned what portions of them we can eat and stay at our ideal weight from then onwards.

Additionally by adding exercise into our way of living as recommended by Dr Atkins we can remain energetic and active which will also help us keep our newfound zest for life and our smaller body.

Have you got a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) yet? They are available at most bookshops as well as charity shops (thrift shops) and online and will explain the theories behind this way of eating that we are all following. Make sure you get one with a published date of 2002 as that is the one we base our advice on here.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
