it is allowed during induction. if so, would i count or not. my one brand has 2 carbs and 2 sugar alcohols. would that be zero carbs? thank you in advanced.

Technically, yes, that would be zero net carbs. Just keep in mind that sugar alcohols DO affect some people. And the sweet taste may be enough to keep you craving. I love gum, but I find that I need to stay away from it because I just want more and more...

As Cynthia said, those pesky SA's do affect some people, so it may not be such a good idea to use them to satisfy a craving for sweet things!

I found on induction that by feeding sugar cravings with a highfat snack (not a sweet snack) it made my sugar monster shrivel up and slink away. If you feed yours with a sweet-tasting substitute you might be keeping it alive and kicking!

Try having legal non-sweet snacks instead to let your sugar monster know who is boss!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Here is a link to a useful thread about the effect SA's can have
          http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5922

As to whether to deduct the SA carbs - my own rule of thumb is 'If it affects me (bathroom effect) I deduct them, if not I count them'.
Again - a link to a discussion of whether to count them or deduct them
          http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6731
and another explaining what they are
          http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6780

I hope this helps you (and others new to Atkins) decide for yourself.
