can this Really Happen??? i read this Thread from Orann in the (Main Atkins Diet Forum)

Ok ... I started Induction on November 9, 06 ... clean induction. I had a minor disruption at the end of November with caffeine, but nothing major. I have not cheated, I don't even have any temptation foods in the house !
I am writing down amounts and keeping track to make sure that I don't overdo it with cheeses, sticking with salads and lower carb veggies that I like... It's Jan. 5 today and I SHOULD have been down quite a bit of weight and even more results in inches ..... but
During this 2 months I have only lost 1 pound and 2 inches overall ....

could I do a Clean Induction and Not Cheat At All and Not Lose??? this Sunday my Induction will be over and i will weigh in and im so nervous!!! i know because of my age and medications, i will be Very Resistant, but WHAT IF I DONT LOSE ANYTHING??? after being So Good......! does this happen to alot of people? im not in a hurry to lose the weight... it would be nice, but i know for a fact that if i try to rush it i might really mess up, so im just taking it 1 day at a time and keeping a Very Positive outlook on it...! if any of your Pros/Veterans know the answers... Please feel free to throw me your Opinions... I would LOVE to know...

    Re: ?Can This Really Happen?

It can happen people have gone though induction without losing anything. One of our ex admins on this site suffered with the exact same problem. They went through a squeaky clean 2 week induction and didnt lose anything at all.

But, and this is a big BUT, they did get to goal. If it happens to you, dont worry unduly, because aslong as you stick to plan it works in the end.

I can however understand how disheartening it could feel.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

I think you should read the rest of her thread because (thanks to higgies) we learned that she was eating about 600 calories a day---which is much too low for an adult. Also Orann was inadvertently eating low fat, which Dr. Atkins clearly states not to do.

And for anyone that does have issues, it's a good idea to post a couple of days menus in our 'review my menu' forum. Someone can go over your menu for you and let you know if there's anything you are doing wrong, ie: not eatin enough as Megs pointed out, or foods that you could be eating that could possibly stall you (some people have issues with dairy or cheese, others with sweeteners etc).

the best thing to remember to help with induction is to keep your fats/carbs/proteins at 65/5/30 % (journalling your foods in www.fitday.com you can figure out your %'s), making sure you eat when you are hungry, and making sure you stop when you are full, eat only what is on the induction list, no bars, shakes candy etc, and stick with whole foods nothing processed.

Thank You Megs! yes... i did read the rest of her thread and i saw that... ME on the other hand... ive been usin Fitday & keeping myself (((In Line))) i had read so many forums along with my DANDR and learned early that i needed to keep my calories up so i have been eating very well... i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem even after doing as I have been doing... it seems like it would be kind of strange to eat completly legal for 2 weeks and not loose any weight at all... those are the people i was calling out too... i guess im just nervous about weighing in on Sunday... Thanks Again!

              Re: ?Can This Really Happen?

... and, if you read her Journal, you will see that her dr. has diagnosed her with a digestive issue which they are working to resolve.

You can *stall* with weight loss so you should be prepared to accept that. Are you taking your measurements??
