  • Day 7

Today is my 7th day....Yeah!!!! I looked at the scale and it shows that I lost 4 pounds. My ketone strips show purple. So I am very happy. The first few days I guess I was not feeling well probably due to my addiction to sugar. Today I feel great. I've lost my cravings for sugary foods and am very conscious of what I eat. Before I would just pick up what was around or go thru a drive thru. Most of my problem was stress or emotional eating. Last January I was down to 155 (I was feeling really good) and then my dd15 broke her back in a sledding accident. To make a long story short, she was operated on with a spinal fusion and after 6 months of recovery has made a miraculous recovery. However, during this time as I took care of her and worried about her, I ate and I ate. I am so happy today as I feel that desire to eat (stress eat) is gone.

I started on Atkins and really felt this is it. I am fully committed. I was looking at a picture taken of me when I was helping my dd17 get ready for her homecoming a few months ago. I hate and dread every picture. I want to stop feeling that way because I want to have pictures taken with my girls. My oldest is graduating in May and my goal is to have my picture taken with her and be okay with this.

By the way I turn 50 next month. Someone please tell me it's not too late to get into shape (no I'm not expecting a bikini body like a 20 year old....just where I put on a pair of jeans or a dress and feel good about myself).

Thanks everyone for the board as this really helps me if I have a feeling of self doubt.

    Re: Day 7

Congratulations! What great news that your daughter is recovering well! No, it isn't too late! About two years ago, my mom lost about 40 pounds - she was 54 at the time. She looks MARVELOUS! She doesn't like the naked look, but she didn't like it 40 pounds heavier either...but dressed in her size 4 clothing she looks and feels like a million bucks! Carry on! You'll be thrilled that you did!
