  • Nausea....Is this a problem?

I am on day 4 of induction. I usually eat all the time!! But for the past 2 days..I do not want to eat. I know that may be a blessing is disguise..but Im a little worried. Thinking about some foods makes me sick to my stomach. I have to force myself to eat the food I need lately. Will this go away after a few days?? Im just trying to make sense of this. Thanks

Yes, that's totally normal. That's the appetite suppression of ketosis. Use it to your benefit to learn what your signals are for both thirst and hunger. Only eat when you are hungry, or it has been 6 hours since you last ate. If you are at 6 hours and eating because you have to, make sure you eat something small that has carbs, fat and protein (veggie sticks with cream cheese perhaps).

It does lessen slightly as you go on. When you move into the ongoing weight loss (OWL) phases and start adding foods back in, that will lessen it too.

      Re: Nausea....Is this a problem?

      Hi

the answer is yes, im on day nine and it took me till at least day 7 to stop hating the smell of cooked meat. My advice is to try the opposite for a while, that is i switched to fish for a couple day. Im back now to eating the foods i couldn't stomach a few days ago. Im sure it will happen again but try to be versatile. I keep saying "its only 5 days till i can eat a strawberry!!!! Its dangling on a stickk right now for me. good luck

Colleen...I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you aren't allowed to eat strawberries until the berries rung, which is rung 4. After induction, if you decide to move to OWL, rung 1 is veggies. This means you can eat another serving of LEGAL veggies. I suggest you re-read the OWL chapters in dandr to make sure you're on track. Also, check out the stickies in the OWL forum concerning rungs. I would hate for you to make a mistake that didn't need to be made!

I have two days left of induction and I have been feeling a little queasy about foods that I have been eating all along. I cannot look at ham for a while! Try to mix it up a little. THings that are a little salty like bacon seen to make me feel better. And cream cheese on celery. Perfect!

Maybe you could post a menu or two in the review my menu section of the board and some of the experts might be able to see something that might be making you feel bad. Hope you feel better soon!
