  • PMSing on ATKINS!

O.k.....I've been on Atkins since December 26th, and I'm down to 233. But now Aunt flow has come to call(a week early at that!), and I want a Snickers and some sour cream and onion chips! WHEWWWW....o.k. I've come back to reality now and know that's not possible. I'm hoping being on Atkins again will fix my PCOS. My periods have been acting crazy again(ever since I first stopped doing Atkns 2 yrs ago) and I'm hoping it gets back like it had been before. The birth control pills do not work and I'm just done and I just gave up today and stopped taking them. I need to start working out at the gym or at least at home.
Does anyone have any good induction "sweets" to tell me about. I intend to stay in induction for a while since I have so much to lose and during the pms times, need something!!!

    Re: PMSing on ATKINS!

Hi there! Have you tried a high fat snack first - to see if you really need something sweet? I know that sounds like it is easy for me to say, but I just wanted to check - sometimes that will help! Then if not, you can always sweeten a little cream cheese and there are other induction legal sweets in the recipe section - I just haven't had anything sweet on induction this time, so I guess I'm not much help there...

One reason I did reply to your post is that you mentioned wanting to stay on induction since you have so much to lose - so much is a relative term I think -and from my past experience on this WOE I would HIGHLY suggest that you not stay on induction longer than necessary to get your cravings under control and break some pre Atkins habits. It can take quite a while to move through OWL and you'll be losing all through that but more importantly, you'll be learning about what foods your body can and can't tolerate and you'll get to experience the variety that is possible on this WOE. Obviously you have to do what is right for you, I just wanted to toss that out there as food for thought!

I wish you much success and hope that you find something to help you through the PMS!

Feeding cravings doesn't squash them, it perpetuates them. A smoker doesn't take a drag to stave off a craving any more than an alcoholic takes a drink to stave off a craving.

You will find that if you stay away from the sweets that your tastes and perception of tastes will change quite dramatically. Before Atkins, I had no idea that steamed broccoli was actually sweet!

      Kylie is right.

This WOE isn't pennance for food sins. Use the phases as they were designed to be used and you're much likely to be more successful. They're there for a reason!

      I wish you success.

What, are you steaming your broccoli in? Splenda? just kidding, but I have never (and still dont) find broccoli sweet.
