  • atkins bars

I had an atkins bar the other day that was allowed during the induction phase and it was wonderful. What is the thought on the atkins bars during the induction phase.

I have been on and off Atkins for 2 years now, and it is my personal opinion that while on Induction you should stick with real foods. Meat, egs, fish, cheese ... etc

      Re: atkins bars

Take a look at the ingredients on the packet and I think you will find stuff there that is NOT on the allowed list of induction foods!!

Last year we had a member who insisted that the bars he was eating were allowed but he never did get round to posting the ingredients to prove his point! I wonder why?!?!?

So follow the rules and if the bars list wheat, soy, nuts or fruit etc on the ingredients you will know they have to wait till you reach the OWL rung that includes ALL the list! So for most it would mean the grains rung or legumes rung I fear.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Yes... Eli and Rein are right. Stick with low carb, real foods for now, and you can't go far wrong. Soooooo many people have come a cropper with those bars, it would be such a shame if it happened to you too.

Also we don't recommend their use because they have a tendency to slow or stop weight loss in some people. So if you do want to add them into your menu, be aware of this fact.

Which is part of the reason why thats my decision to stay away from them, while doing a clean induction ... although I do wonder why Atkins Corporate insists that those type's of food are OK for Induction.

Thank you all. Rein...I agree with you. Why would the Atkins company say it is ok for induction if in fact it is not. Anyway, thank you very much for all your advice.
