This is my third go at atkins, it really worked well for me in the past. I lost a lot of weight without even really working out. This time I have added cardio (eliptical machine) and the first week I started induction I lost 6 lbs, the second week I started with the eliptical and I stopped with the weight loss, I even cut back what Im eating. Help whats going on?

Re: Help!! Really Confused
Give it more time. You could be building musle and. Have you measured? I will be you have lost inches. This is about getting sma;ller and healthier. Not the number on a machine. Keep up the goodwork you will get there~Lauren~
support? Isn't it time to give some back?

Re: Help!! Really Confused
It's too soon for you to be building enough muscle for you to see it on the scale. However, when you start an exercise routine and put a new load and demand on your muscles, your body views it as being an emergency. Your muscles will hyperhydrate (retain quite a bit of water) to protect themselves from the goof that's doing this to them
Once your body figures out that the new demands on the muscles are going to be the norm, the muscles will let go of the water and you'll see that reflected on the scale.
As Lauren so aptly pointed out - this isn't about a number on the scale. The last time I bought a pair of pants there was no weight requirement on the tag, but there was most certainly a waist size on them!
If the scale shakes you like that, stay off that sucker. Make friends with your tape measure - but be aware that that can only tell you so much. You can't really measure ear-lobe fat, but that doesn't mean it doesn't count when it burns off!
The best and most reliable way I've ever found to keep real track of my progress was to take pictures monthly. Even when the tape measure and the scale didn't cooperate, I could *always* see progress in those pictures that I couldn't see when I looked in the mirror.
Weigh in once a week or once every other week or once every month - whatever works for you - but be mindful of keeping an eye on the general trend. So long as the general trend is downwards - even if slowly - it's headed in the right direction! Your weight will fluctuate. It will. Get used to it!
Measure once a month, but no more than once every other week. Any more than that is just an exercise in frustration and futility.
Take pictures once a month. I promise you, you won't be sorry you did.
Most of all, take a deep breath. You've only been at this for a couple of weeks. A couple of weeks in the big picture isn't squat. Give it time. You didn't put it on over-night, it's not going to come off that way either. Slow and steady wins the race. I've always said - I'm not in this to take it off fast, just ONCE - and for the most part, I've been successful
Hang in there!

Don't give the clothing manufacturers any ideas Brook!!!!!! Can you imagine having to step on a scale before you are allowed to purchase an article of clothing??????? <<<faint>>>>

Re: Help!! Really Confused
So can I!
You step on a scale. They note your weight. Then they tell you that according to the Kate Moss Weight-Size Conversion Table there is no way a size 6 will fit you.~Megs~

Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
