  • Clothes fit the same

    Good Morning everyone!

Okay I'm very excited to say that I've lost approximately 15 pounds since the second week in January. I'm very happy to see my scale going down, but I'm a little discouraged because although the pounds are going down, I'm not feeling any difference in the way my clothes fit. I guess its safe for me to assume that the most of my "weight" loss is water weight. I wonder how long it will be until my clothes become loose. I've been going to Curves 2-3 times a week and I' started walking on the treadmill in the morning on Monday. How many pounds do I have to lose before I notice a change in the way my clothes fit?

    Hi there,

It takes a while to see changes in clothes sometimes. THis is different for everybody. Some people do not lose as much weight the first 2 weeks, but feels the difference in clothes. It might be water weight, but you should feel a lil difference in your tummy ect. It also depends on how much you have to lose. If you feel like you haven't met your goal through induction, it might be right for you to stay. Give it a week or two.
Did you measure yourself before u got started? You take a measuring tape and see if there isn't any difference, even cm's counts dear.

Good luck and keep your head up.

What kind of material is the clothing made of? That is if the clothing is made from stretchy material, like a cotton-spandex blend or even t-shirt material, you probably won't see any difference because these materials will conform to your body. But if the clothing is made from minimally stretchy material, like linen or dress-shirt cotton (broadcloth), the clothing won't conform to your body as much and you'll be able to tell a difference.

The other way is to take measurements.

Yeah taking measurements is a good idea, but I'm going to wait until my 1st weigh in at Curves, which is coming up shortly. I just can't help but be dissapointed. I really wanted my pants to have more room in them. I'm not going to give up though. I know that I have to be patient because I didn't gain all this weight overnight so I can't lose it that way. I'm giving myself until the second week in february.

Don't give up. Just remember, if the clothing is stretchy, it will conform to your body and it will feel the same on you. My exercise t-shirt is the same way. When I began, the t-shirt was alittle loose. By the time I lost 40 pounds, the t-shirt still felt the same--alittle loose and it still draped my body the same way. But I had a silk blouse that was 'just right' when I began. 40 pounds later, I had to grab 6 inches of the material away for it to look 'just right'.

And don't even try measuring yourself with sweaters or anything knitted. In my experience, you'll only look 'baggy' in them only if you lose a significant amount of weight. They cling and conform to your body too well for you to notice a difference.

            And then what?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

When you feel like you're stuck...try and remember that you didn't become overweight overnight. It takes time to lose the weight, and inches and everything else.

I think Elizellen is perhaps suggesting that if you give yourself a deadline, at the very least give yourself a plan for what happens if the deadline comes and whatever you're hoping for hasn't happened.

If the scale isn't move and the measuring tape is, stick with what's working. If the scale's moving and the measuring tape isn't - look at your sodium intake - could you be retaining water? Go back to a clean 14 day induction - and see if that makes a difference. There are way too many success stories out there to give up on just a few pounds and just a few inches.

Wow, 15 lbs since the second week of January!? That is only 2 weeks, 7.5 lbs a week...that is amazing!!
I wouldn't worry about how the clothes are fitting just yet, if that scale is going down that tells you something!
Try to set small goals for yourself, it can be overwhelming when you think of the big picture. You can do it!
