So I have been sailing along for around a week, journaling, using fitday, working out, feeling really pretty darn great. Tonight I sit down for supper, which looked delicious. It was a cauliflower salad and a rotisseri chicken. I dig in, eat until I'm full, then go to enter my food on fitday. MY CHICKEN HAD 11 CARBS PER SERVING. AHHH!! It was garlic and herb flavored and it never occured to me to check the carb count. Silly me thought chicken was chicken and I would be fine. Will this STUPID mistake kick me out of ketosis?
I am so sad and I know I'm rambling, but I just needed to vent to people who understand!

I really do not think this will kick you out of ketosis. Just keep drinking the water, exercising, and do a better job of looking at labels BEFORE you put food in your mouth.Maggie(F) age 31

Re: So Mad At Myself
If you are using the 'rotissiere chicken' option on fitday.com, you might find the carbs higher than what you chicken really is because they use a generalized chicken recipe. The same thing goes for the egg salad or tuna salad entries on fitday.com---the carbs are alot higher than if you make your own salads and enter the ingredients separately.
So read the label on your chicken and enter it's nutritional info as a "customized food".

Re: So Mad At Myself
If you buy the rot. chicken at Wal-Mart, if the carb count is not on the package, just ask them and they will tell you. I eat those probably once a week. They are delicious. I don't think Fitday is correct on that. I used fitday at first and then I found out they were wrong about several items so I quit using it.

Re: So Mad At Myself
do yall actually eat the skin of the chicken cuz i just cant eat that. the thought is revolting to me. would that make the carb count less or the same?
anyways i thought we can have basically all the meat we want, to satisfied and not stuffed, and not worry about the carbs. i have read the book a few times now, and have the specific rules and acceptable food lists on my desktop that i look at daily. i have a really bad memory problem so i may not be remembering or understanding right. i count cheese and every other thing that i put in my mouth except meat and water. am i doing it wrong cuz im really afraid ive already started off wrong. second day and ive blown it, or no?
hugs,

Re: So Mad At Myself
If you don't eat the skin on chicken, you won't get any carbs from stuff that's on the skin, unless you intentionally eat that.
I eat Rot. chicken a lot - fitday isn't always right you have to compare the recipe/ingredients/proportions to what you are eating. A lot of time fitday entries come up with stuff in the same name as what you are eating, but they aren't the same. Like Omelette has milk in it, so if yours doesn't, just enter seperate ingredients that went into your meal.~Susan
