  • Ok so I stumbled.... a bit

    Hi all.... again!

I joined a few weeks back and introduced myself, saying I was beginning induction. Which I did! For 6 days, didn't cheat, got my time of the month, felt utterly miserable and achey, gave in to cravings of comfort foods. Oops

Ok so.... that was a couple of weeks back and I haven't returned back to Atkins til today! Good news being I'm still at the same start weight, so thank goodness I didn't put on extra!!

So here I go again, with a few questions about induction if you would be so kind as to help a cheater... I mean ex-cheater Promise!!!

Right, how does the following sound to you... just want to double check its all above board... tuna in brine, eggs, chicken, cheese (mild cheddar), mixed lettuce, cucumber. All ok right?

So... whats the deal with mayo.... is it ok if I have a big spoon of it with my tuna? And one last.... Cheestrings!!!! Allowed?

    Thank yooou

    Hi Cally Bop,

Sorry to hear you fell off the wagon, but good to hear you are starting back. All the foods listed look fine, though it depends on the quantities. Read and re-read the induction chapter of the book so you know inside out what veggies are best and how much cheese, cream etc is ok. It really is important to measure quantities at this stage.

Also, I have cheated so many times - do not beat yourself up about it but think why you did it and what you can do to avoid cheating again.

    Best of luck

Welcome back! Your list looks OK - but be sure to branch out and check out some of the other veggies on the induction list - LOTS of great things there - don't limit yourself to lettuce and cucumbers.

Mayo is FINE - just read your labels carefully to find one without a bunch of sugar added. Many have trace amounts of sugar - but use actual mayo and not some "salad dressing" low fat thing- you want the real, full fat stuff. Hellman's and Duke's are two brand names that come to mind.

Stringcheese - I am not a big cold cheese fan, so not as sure about this but would say read labels and make sure you're only getting cheese and not some processed mess with a lot of additives. I am sure someone else will come along and clarify more on this.

      Best wishes for your success!!

Thanks Baarb & Kylie for your replies!

Definitely gonna check out more veggies... I love veggies, just nervous of overindulging in the carbs.

As for the cheese strings... I've checked the packet and it says 100% real cheese and Carbs are trace so I guess they're ok unless they're lyin to me

haha... thanks again guys... best of luck and here I go again!

Hope to see you around the boards... I need all the help I can get
