  • Mayo Hellmans vs Kraft

I just bought some craft Mayo that said 0 carbs and almost threw up because of the taste. Im a Miracle Whip guy so this is tough. Does Hellmans taste different/better than Kraft mayo? Thanks

Oh and I tried putting splenda in my Kraft mayo and it made me hate it even more lol

I have never tried the Kraft range. Personally I love Hellmans!

Kraft is a lot more sugary than Hellmans.

Did you ever think about trying to make your own homemade mayo? The taste cannot be beat and you control what goes in it! It took me a few tries to get it right but YUM YUM! Youl could google up recipes for homemade mayo or I could post my basic recipe(though you will still have to play around with it).

If you like Miracle Whip, it's unlikely you'll find a REAL mayonnaise you like as much. I can't stand Miracle whip, but love Hellman's. I can't think of any kind of mayo that is similar to a dressing like Miracle Whip. Sorry!

Ooohh..I just thought of something. Someone....I can't remember who, said they sweeten their mayo with splenda or stevia to give it a miracle whip-ish flavor. Maybe you can try that. Just remember to count the sweetener.

They both taste the same to me.

Miracle Whip has alot of sugar. you can make a "fake" version of it, by adding sweetener and vinegar to regular mayo. The only problem is the more stuff you put into the mayo, the higher its carb count. Additionally, each serving of a food with a sweetener in it counts as 1 of the three sweetener servings we can have daily.

This is the recipe that we used in culinairy school
                    mayonnaise:
                    1 eggyolk
                    1 tbsp vinegar or lemonjuice
                    1 tsp mustard
                    10 drops worcestershire (optional)
a bit pepper (preferably white else it gets black specks)
                    a bit salt
                    8.5 fluid oz oil, roomtemperature
mix yolk with everything except the oil, whisk together
very slowly add the oil while whisking all the time
when too thick add lukewarm water or lemonjuice/vinegar (depends on the taste)
                    bring to taste

Thats how I make mine but without the worcestershire. I use vinegear instead of the lemon juice. I mix it up with a staf mixer http://www.defrieslandshop.nl/catalo...rs/MR5000M.jpg The key is to add the oil VERY slowly. It might take some time.
