I'm sorry to say that it definately affects "somethin". It probably kicked you out of ketosis and you're not burning fat until the cake is gone from your system and you're back in track again. Drink as much water as you can, up your exercise a bit and you'll be fine and back burning body fat in a day or two.

Im not meaning to scare you or be a bad guy, but I think it's only self-delusion to think you can eat a cake here and there and get no effects whatsoever.

          Re: I did bad!

Try to figure out what happened. That is, why did you fall off? Did you skip a meal or go longer than 6 waking hours without eating something? Was there something that affected you emotionally (argued with someone, stressful day at the office, etc.)? Were you in the company of people who incorrectly told you that "one bite won't hurt" you at all?

Figure out what happened, so you will be able to develop coping strategies to prevent another "mistake" from happening.

That's exactly it, people around me know I'm on this diet and they keep offering me things high in carbs.. like cake, soda, chips, ect. It's frustrating. They to it to annoy me. I guess maybe it just got to me. It definitely won't be happening again! I was soooo incredibly mad at myself last night, I cried about it.

I knew it would probably end up throwing something off. I plan on drinking a lot of water today, and exercising more than usual.

I knew it would affect me somehow, but I was just hoping.

Who is doing that to you? That is very rude and uncaring. Can you imagine offering a recovering alcoholic a drink?!?

                  Re: I did bad!

Tanya-I have had that happen to me in past attempts at the diet. Now I get rude back when I am preasured to eat wrong things. My mother-in-law is something that says "a little bit will not hurt" and I just say(in a b i t c h y way maybe) that every body is different and has different needs and that "little bit" will hurt me. She has learned to keep her mouth shut because she gets the same reaction from me every single time. It isn't "fun" for her anymore.

Yes I've had that happen to me as well. I just say "Maybe not but if it triggers a craving and I spend the next few hours fighting the desire for more then it's not worth it, so, no thanks!".

My DBF says the same thing sometimes.. like, he eats really healthy and everything, and if I were on maintenance, I could eat everything he does, but I'm not... he goes, eating a *whole wheat* bun isn't *BAD* for you, and i go, no... but me going after anything with carbs or sugar for the next 5 days before I got it under control *would* be.
