  • Starting Over

About two weeks ago I went off the plan I couldn't get over the fact that I may have put myself out of ketosis for a very minor splurge, I stayed on the plan somewhat for the next week and have been eating every carb in site for the last week, I am starting again tomorrow and plan to not weight myself for the first week, which is huge for me because I usually weight twice a day. Anyway wish me luck I am starting again tomorrow.

You can DO THIS! Try to think about why/what made you go off plan last time and try to come up with alternatives in case a similar situation arises again. And ignoring the scale is a great idea!

    Best wishes for success!

Take your measurements and leave the scale alone, for a while. Inches are a better way of evaluating your loss than the scale.
Be prepared by having a high fat snack available at any time, in case cravings for something non legal hit.
If you can remember what triggered your fall from plan last time, try to avoid similar situations, or remember how you felt after the cheat.

You can do this! Just keep focused strongly on your goal and imagine how wonderful you'll feel when you get there... and believe me, you'll feel better than your imaginings!!

      Happy Atkineering!

          Good luck on this attempt.

But if you completed a 2 week Induction before falling off, be sure to use those results to plan your Atkins. So if you lost 7 pounds, use that 7 pound number when you look up your metabolic resistance in the charts in the book.

              Re: Starting Over

Thanks so much for all of the support, I'm planning a trip to the grocery store first thing in the morning, the thing that threw me last time was a half-day trip to a near-by town so I plan to keep atkins bars (which I hate) as an emergency measure only in the glove box of my car. I know they can trigger craving and I know they can throw you out of ketosis if used in any way regularly but it beats a trip through the drive through. If anyone has any better ideas I ready to listen.

              Thanks for your support.

Keep some jerky in the glove box for emergency use. It should last a long time, and lower carbs than the bars, and it shouldn't trigger cravings. The bars can trigger cravings even if you only eat one of them... or only plan on eating one of them I should say... I go through the drive through, I just order the sandwich without the bun, or Wendy's will substitute a side or ceasar salad in place of the french fries... They make it mad easy, they give you the sandwich without the bun, and a salad... I would also suggest eating ahead of time and taking snacks with you if you know you're going out of town for the day or half-day or whatever...

                  Re: Starting Over

My life-saver on induction when out and about was cheese 'crackers' which keep for ages in an airtight container and dont need refrigerating.
Make them in the microwave or oven - just a pile of grated cheese or cube of block cheese nuked or baked till they bubble and go crisp.
Now I have a dehydrator I also make jerky which also keeps well without a cooler.

Lyssie is right - most fast food outlets can be 'negotiated' if you throw away the bun and maybe have your own 'legal' dressing with you.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Does anyone know a link or have advice on where/how to take your measurements? I know this seems like a funny question but it's been a while and I want to get it done today since this is my day one.
