Okay I am stressing out over here! I went to the Doctor's office on Friday and my blood pressure was 150/110!!! I have never had a problem with my blood pressure. What is going on? That was my first visit to that particular office and doctor. He asked me why my pressure was so high and I couldn't answer him. He checked it again after about 6 minutes and it went down to 130/98, which is better but still not good. Now everytime I have a headache I panic thinking that my pressure is high. I don't use a lot of salt, I just use seasonings and spices. So what could be the problem. Has anyone else had this happen to them? My family has a history of HBP and I don't want to have to take medication to control mine. I currently have an ear infection and a bad cold. I've had it since last tuesday and its a lot better now, but I'm still having a hard time breathing through my nose and I don't know if my head is hurting because I've been coughing a lot or because my pressure is high. I'm scared.

Re: Blood Pressure sky high
I agree with Heidi.
But, when you visited the doctor (and you stated he was new) do you think maybe you had what they call "white coat syndrome"? Not uncommon and the fact your BP went down in a short period of time. Just something to think about.
Also, are you taking any OTC drugs for your cold?Bren

Re: Blood Pressure sky high
No I havent taken any OTC for my cold. I don't usually take them. I thought maybe that was why it was so high because I was anxious about going to the doctors office for the first time. Right now as far as supplements go I take a multi, L-Carnitine, Chromium, COq10, and a fish oil capsule

Re: Blood Pressure sky high
How much water do you normally drink? Hydration at the time of testing will affect your BP reading. If you were frequently in a less than hydrated state in the past, your BP may have been lower because of that. This WOE tends to lower my BP - sometimes too much - and drinking plenty of water always gets it back up to a more normal range for me. Your family history is a big factor, so I would certainly start tracking and monitoring this - I would contact your doctor just to put your mind at ease.

Also you maybe think you don't eat that much salt but there certainly is very much salt in all packaged/premade foods - more than we realise or know.female/33/5'
