  • How am I doing?

I started on Monday February 5th. I misread the carbs in avocado so I was off on Monday, but since Tuesday everything has been good. I started tracking what I ate in fitday and here is what I am at:

    Monday Fat: 65%, Protein: 30%, Carbs (28g) 5%
    Tuesday Fat: 63%, Protein: 35%, Carbs (17g) 3%
    Wednesday Fat: 59%, Protein: 39%, Carbs (11g) 2%
    Thursday Fat: 60%, Protein: 37%, Carbs (19g) 2%
    Friday Fat: 61%, Protein: 37%, Carbs (16g) 2%

Am I at the right balance of fat/protein/carbs? Another question I had is should I eat vegetables/salad until I get closer to 20g (looking at wednesday I was only 11g), or if I was ok, should I not worry about getting 20g.

Your percentages are close--you should be eating 5% carbs, 65% fat, and 30% protein. An excess of protein in the body is converted into glycogen, and then stored as fat.

On induction, I RARELY ate 20 grams of carbs--usually I was around 15 or 16. As long as you're eating your 3 cups of veggies per day, and varying your veggie choices from day to day, I would say you are ok. Just make sure you are choosing veggies that give you a "bang for your buck" (like spinach, pumpkin, broccoli, squash) and not choosing ones that are just the lowest in carbs. Stay away from iceberg lettuce. It has practically no nutritional value.

The 20g carb rule of induction is so that even the most insulin resistant can lose weight and get into ketosis.
