I went shopping at Safeway today, and I was happy to see Oscar Meyer has a NEW! Smoked Uncured bacon with "no nitrate or nitrade added (except those occurring naturally in celery powder or sea salt)." It wasn't on sale, so a 12 oz. pack was $5.99. I can't imagine it would be any cheaper at a Whole Foods store, though.
After looking at the $5 fresh salmon fillets at the butcher counter, I checked out the frozen seafood section, and found some prepackaged 4 oz. salmon fillets 10/$10. I got a few to try, I'll definitely go back for more if I like them. One of those and some asparagus in my George Foreman grill will make a lunch as good as it is fast.
