  • I did it!

I finally got through a meal with my mom without my willpower completely breaking down.

My mom always gives me a hard time when I am on low-fat diets. She will fill my cupboards with all my favorite sugary treats, which I will not go into here for all of our sakes. I met her for breakfast this morning and was able to eat an omlette with cheese, three strips of bacon and a small salad with ranch w/o arousing more than the slightest suspicion. I love Atkins. The only thing she said is "you're losing weight again!" "Oh?" I said, while spooning dressing onto my salad (counted it in the carbs).

Sometimes if you can't beat them, you have to fool them. She did offer me some of her club sandwich and fries, but I was able to say no. I just don't want any more sugar and white bread in my life at all.

Good job! That sure is a tough thing to deal with, when even family members are against it! I was there too! But once you start losing more and more weight - they all seem to want to know HOW!

It must be hard when family are not behind you!
Luckily both myself and my daughter are following Atkins...it's great having someone else in the house to share this with! My husband is a real support and is always encouraging us...which is a massive help

        Good luck on your journey

            Good job, Hottie!
It's difficult when people are trying to pressure you to eat garbage. One of the wonderful things about Atkins is sometimes people don't even notice what we are eating, because our plates are as full as their's.
Doesn't it feel GREAT to pass up garbage food?

Thats wonderful that you can break away from her influence. Is there a reason your mother does'nt want you to lose weight? Have you discussed it with her? It will be very hard if she is going to try and sabotage you at every turn. I hope that your strength stays strong.

                    Re: I did it!

I think that there's some reason, but I can't figure it out. I know that she came over today and I had bought groceries yesterday. She bought lots of bread, but not the same things, just obviously stuff for the girls. Thank goodness. Also, I have to make 5 ice cream pies for my kids' V-day parties and it's going to be hard not to taste.

The really amazing thing is how long food stays in my house when I'm not vaccuuming it all up in my mouth!
Today, I was late for a workshop and I did some emotional eating, I ate a tortilla. But I am not going to beat up on myself, just wait and see. And pee on a stick in the morning. It's so funny now how that can be the highlight of my day, it reminds me of being pregnant.
