  • Over 2000 calories a day?

I really know I'm not supposed to be concerned about calories but I can't help but think I might have ate too many the last two days. Yesterday was 2120 and today was 2168 It just seems like so many to me. So far I am loving this plan, but I can't get the idea out of my head that I'm eating too much. Is it normal for a 214lb 35 yr. old woman to be eating so many? I'm hoping over the next few days my appetite supresses a bit, but everything I've eaten over the last two days has been so darn good!

The BMR calculator from this site: http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ says that your BMR would be about 1736. It says if you're sedentary, you burn about 2100 calories a day, if you're lightly active about 2387....

It's fine to be eating that much as long as you're stopping eating when you're sated not when you're stuffed or anything. The appetite supression *does* kick in, and then you won't be eating as many calories anyway, plus it's putting you into ketosis which is all yummy and fat burning.

As Lyssie said, you will probably find your appetite decreases as you get into ketosis, so your calories will naturally go down, but dont worry about calories at this stage in your Atkins journey.

Some people report that they DO need to think of restricting their calories when they are really close to goal but it is a YMMV (your mileage may vary) issue so wait till you are at that stage before thinking about that.

Concentrate on eating only from the allowed list and up to 20 net carbs and you will do fine I am sure.

Some days you will find you need to eat more food than other days, but as has been said - eat when you are hungry and until you are no longer hungry and you will soon be a loser!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Also are you eating your vegetables? I think if you are getting the majority of your carbs every day from your vegetables..that will help.

If you are still really concerned, you might want to post a days menu to be reviewed.

Thanks ladies for your replies. I just checked my Fitday and I am indeed getting the majority of my carbs from my veggies. So far my lunch every day has been a delicious salad, 2 cups romaine blend with grilled chicken marinated in hot wing sauce (no sugars in the sauce ) with ranch dressing and I have another cup of veggies at night with my dinner. I know the first day I did do a bit of overeating to the point where I felt stuffed just because I felt bad about wasting the food. But I think it's slowly sinking in that making a smaller portion isn't that bad because I can always go back and have a bit more if I really feel I need more (instead of making one huge portion right off the bat).

Today is day 3 and I just finished my breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese. I've never felt so happy and satisfied on a diet in my life! I am a HUGE sugar junkie and so far I've had absolutely NO cravings for it. Of course I haven't actually LOOKED at a piece of cake or chocolate in days, but I think when the craving does strike I"ll be able to calm it down with an oz. of cream cheese. Cream cheese is so rich and sweet to me...I am loving this WOE!
