I'm on day 6 today and I am seeing an amazing decrease in appetite! I started day 1 and 2 at 2100 calories and ever since then have been totally satisfied each day at 1300-1400 calories. I know that calories don't exactly matter, but I just felt like maybe this would give others just starting the program something to look forward to. Every morning I've had 3 scrambled eggs and 3 slices of bacon for breakfast and this morning I couldn't even finish it all! I gave the remaining scrambled egg and slice of bacon to hubby...That was about 3 hours ago and I'm STILL satisfied and not the least bit hungry! I'm sure the water has alot to do with it too, I seem to drink alot during morning hours and then kind of slow it down during the afternoon and evening and still get my 100 oz. in every day. So far I am loving this!

Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
Hi Amy,
Isn't it great? And it only gets better!
I don't know if my stomach has physically shrunk in the last six weeks since i started Atkins, but seems I get fuller much quicker, and on smaller portions. I find that my hunger is satisfied after about a fist-sized portion of just about anything.
No more belly-aches and GERD from over eating!

Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
I'm having the same thing! A lot of times I halve my portion and eat it slowly, and feel perfectly satisfied. I have the other half for a snack later if I need it. The water helps a lot. We (my husband and I) are really enjoying this WOE. Wierd thing to say about a "diet" but it's so much more than that.

Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
Hey Amy, Procrastix, Lamby,
Well, I've been doing atkins 200 days today...I was browsing around and came here, this is fun. I love your enthusiasm, and it's true it goes along like this, especially if you stay in ketosis...that ketosis is just an amazing thing, dimishes that appetite and reduces cravings, and the energy...when you start to really thrive....
I've been doing this over 6 months and every once in a while hunger pains strike, or cravings, come knocking, but if you stay absolutely focused, and always prepared you can stay clean and that is a good thing...74 8/1/06

Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
Even later on in the plan, I can gladly say, on rung 8 of OWL, 6 months in, I still don't have cravings. I have really been doing well, especially lately, with portions, and listening to my body. Even eating all sorts of higher carb fruits and veggies, I am still able to defeat the sugar monster! I just can't say enough good things about the science of Atkins.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
I'm really struggling now to eat enough...I've just started into my 3rd week and my appetite has gone completely...especially with breakfast...I've just had to force myself to eat 1 egg scrambled!! I make myself eat and add dressing and mayo to foods and butter on veg just to keep my calorie and fat intake up!
Don't get me wrong I'm happy that my appetite has decreased cos it shows ketosis is well and truly in the house!! but i'd have liked a little appetite left...just a little! LOL

Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
Its it odd how this diet lets you eat good tasting foods, and kills your appetite? I ate chicken for breakfast this morning, and didn't eat again till 6PM. Not good, I know, but I got so wrapped up in life that I totally forgot to eat. Re: Decrease in appetite amazing!
Nix - are you still on induction? Sometimes having the flexibility of having new/different foods to try can make you more willing to eat since it's not really the same thing day after day... or shake it up with a different breakfast... I ate eggs like, every breakfast for a long time the first time around, I can barely eat them now...
Pickle - I know this is going to sound like the pot to the kettle for anybody who knows my eating habits, but making sure you eat regularly is really important so you keep your metabolism revved and your calories at a level where your body doesn't start to think you're trying to starve it... I know you know it's not good, so maybe pack snacks with you then you're more likely to remember you should be having a snack (if nothing else) within that 6 hour timeframe...

Yes I'm still on induction, I just have no appetite hun...also I have a cold which is probably affecting my appetite too! I do eat a fair variety of foods and don't always have eggs for breakfast...although I did the first week!! I just find I'm not all that hungry and really have to make myself eat, especially in the mornings. Last week I was on holiday from work and that was good as I didn't have to eat breakfast quite so early in the morning...I find it easier to eat later in the morning!

I didn't mean to. This winter we had the first official blizzard in years, and there's piles of snow everywhere. What started as shoveling snow turned into a snow ball fight, which turned into a snow ball war, and lunch just sort of whizzed past without a thought, lol.
I'm definately trying to get used to eating more throughout the day.
Thanks!
