  • Are supplements really necessary?

    Hi,

    Im on day 9 of Induction, and have just noticed through reading posts, that alot of you take supplements. Is this really necessary? if so which ones do i need?

    I would take at least a multivitamin every day, you are supposed to take one that does not have added iron, usually ones aimed at seniors, like centrum, don't have it added. a multivitamin is a good thing to get in the habit of taking no matter what woe you are on.

      If you do a lot of research into figuring out what foods have what vitamins in what amount, AND you follow up and eat the right amount of those foods then it is possible to get all the vitamins you need without a supplement. BUT the problem with that is that it's a lot of work, it's easy to make mistakes, and it requires you to be more structured in what you eat every day day after day. It's much easier to just take a multi-vitamin.

      If your up for one more pill then I'd also highly recommend a combo pill containing fish, borage, and flax oil. It may not as necessary as a multi vit but there are sooo many heath benefits that it's so worth it.

        The benefits of taking vitamins outweigh not taking any, after about 6 weeks on them, I see a great improvemnt on my skin hair and nails, and I feel better all over! I take the centrum silver, flax and fish oil.

          RE-read the part about supplements in the book. Dr. Atkins gives an excellent explanation for why many of us need them.
