  • I want to do this again!

    Hello,
I started this diet about a month and a half ago. I did ok on the first 14days, but at the end when i kept noticing that everyone lost so much weight and I only lost about 7 pounds I got realy upset. I had a few bad days (off the diet) and next thing you know..here i am a month and a half later and an extra 15 pounds..yes 15!! I cant believe it but the scales dont lie.
I need to get this weight off. Im starting over tomorrow but this time I realy want to do it. Can I get some advice about quick easy fast food type things because I dont have alot of time to prepair ahead of time at home so I eat out about everyday for lunch at least.
so this is me: I got down to 268 from 275, but now Im about 283. YUK!

    Hi Mizte! Welcome!

I think preparing your foods at home is the best route because you can know exactly what is going into the foods and control portion size. I have found that if I prepare my lunch the evening before (and even my breakfast for the next day, so I can sleep in a few extra minutes!) that I save myself time and dont have to eat out.

If you absolutely have to eat out, remember to ask exactly what is in the ingredients. I know a lot of fast food places have "protein" or "low Carb" burgers available.. just remember to watch out on the sauces they put on it, since a lot of them would not be induction friendly.

Hardboiled eggs are quick and easy to make, as well as just cutting up a few slices of cheese for part of a meal or snack (remember to count though!)

Good luck! And let us know your progress!

I'm so sorry you got discouraged. Losing 7 pounds in 14 days is great progress: you lost 1/2 pound daily. You might not think 7 pounds is "a lot", but the next time you are in a grocery store, put 7 pounds of potatoes into a sack and feel how much weight that is. You'll be surprised.

As for food preparation, the only advice I can give is to make the time to prepare foods the night-before or on weekends. Hard-boiled eggs kept in the refrigerator, cut up veggies packaged into serving sizes are two suggestions. The other thing is to make extra. For example, if you are having pork chops tonight for dinner, make extra servings so you can use them for lunch or breakfast tomorrow.

      Good luck to you.

Re: I want to do this again!

I think I would have probably jumped for joy at 7 lbs on induction...lol..I managed only 4 lbs. Trust me I feel your pain, and frustration. By the grace of God I stuck to my guns, and still after 7 weeks I am only down 11 lbs. I cant help but to think to myself, its too late to quit now, those 11 are better than what I had been doing.
You can and will be able to do this.
Remember to measure, because you can loose inches and not pounds, that is what is happening to me. I can tell just by how loose my clothes are getting but the scale isnt saying there is any loss. Alot of people tell me they can see the loss, but to be honest I cant feel it.
I pray that you can stick to it this time, you will be amazed at how different it makes you feel after a mere 7 weeks. Just give it a little extra time, you already know its works, it just happens to work a little slower for some of us.
I like to make extra mock cheese cake danish in muffin tins and put them in seperate baggies, I keep them in the fridge for a quick dash out the door morning meal, or for one of the late night cravings. It is induction friendly to boot!
        Good luck in your Journey!!!

Re: I want to do this again!

Welcome! Glad to have you back. Well to answer your questions, Megs kinda hit it on the head, do your prep and such the night before. Always have water with you too. I keep a case in the car for those quick trips to the store, where I used to have candy bar here, a bag of chips there, now I check out, drive home and have a nice bottled water! It's filling too!

Lets know how your doing, also, 7 pounds in two weeks is pretty dang good! Good luck with it. You know, you may want to check out the Second Time Around Forum, for those of us, who have restarted. Stop in and say howdy!

          Best wishes

Re: I want to do this again!

Check out Linda's site. She has tons of super easy recipes. She also has a tips and tricks page filled with ideas to make things faster and easier.

One time saving thing I've incorporated from my old way of eating, when any of my friends had a baby I always made them some food - a lasagne, or other yummy pasta casserole. Anyhow, I bought double ingredients and as I made theirs I made one for us, too. Now with Atkins, when I do one of the super simple recipes from Linda's site, I make two and freeze one. Many of her recipes say "can be frozen" on them. You can freeze the whole thing, or in individual portions, and just take out one at time.

I lost 4 lbs on induction and my husband lost 12.5. I know this works, it's just a bit slower for me, so I'm sticking with it!! Plus I lurve the food!!!

Congratulations on your fresh start! You can do this!

I lost 4.8 lbs before Atkins. I started Atkins 2/10/07 and have lost 11.2 lbs so far.

Re: I want to do this again!

Well thanks to everyone who has given me support and tips. It realy helps. I know that last time when i wrote things and could see that real people write back and have or are going through the same things helps alot.
Im going to give this another shot. I sometimes forget that im not going to wake up and loose 10 pounds every week, even when i stick to this, and for me thats the hard part.

Re: I want to do this again!

If you're going to eat out for lunch, then take your own salad dressing. There are just too many dressings with too many carbs. There are plenty of places where you can get a good salad. And make sure you won't be tempted by all the junk like french fries...if that's too hard, you need to stay away for awhile. Frankly I think homemade is better because you have more control over the ingredients but I believe you can work the plan successfully in restaurants and even fast food places if you make the right choices. Example: McDonald's plain cheeseburger patty + side salad with your dressing (their Ranch has 9g carbs per packet).
