  • I survived Red Lobster!!

Yesterday after breakfast, my husband said we had a lot of errands to run after I picked up the kids from school. I knew I wouldn't have time to cook for the family so we decided to go out to eat. I knew I better plan what I was going to eat before hand in Fitday or else I would get carried away at the restaurant. I went to dietfacts dot com to see what I could eat from the usual restaurants that we go to. The calories, fats and carbs of some of my (past) favorite dishes are startling. Red Lobster was the only restaurant that appeared to be VERY induction friendly and it had almost all of it's menu items on dietfacts. So, including breakfast and Red Lobster, my carbs for the day still didn't exceed 20.

Red Lobster was awesome. Yes, I came, I saw, I conquered. I had no idea it was Lobsterfest this week. Oy! My absolute favorite is Lobster Bisque.. and don't get me started on the coconut shrimp.... but, since I had already pre-planned my meal and carb count earlier in the day, I didn't even have to break open a menu. Ha!

Dietfacts gives the nutrition info on everything from the garden salad without dressing, to the counts for just the dressing. I got the garden salad with blue cheese dressing (no croutons), and the Harborside platter which includes a grilled shrimp skewer, shrimp scampi and a lobster tail. It was all divine! I didn't even pull back the napkin on the garlic biscuits. (they smelled so good though...) I did not feel deprived at all.

The true tests came 2 hours after eating...... blood glucose, a wonderful 109, ketostix measured medium purple (moderate), and this morning, same weight as yesterday, no gain. Wah-hoo!

Wow! I'm going to keep Red Lobster in mind for meals out. It sounds like you had lots of easy choices.

Congratulations on thinking ahead and finding out what would be on offer so you could make an informed choice and eat a delicious on-plan meal
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Good job! I remember one of the first times my wife and I went out to eat when I was on rung one, I was absolutely paranoid....I think she had a $40 gift certificate to TGI Fridays......no kids in the house, just us, an evening out, and here I was freaking out, .....I posted a quick note on the board and immediately comments came back.....how silly.........I didn't even think about going on line and looking at the menu and the different choices they had...it turned out to be a fantastic evening and an absolutely gourmet scrumptious meal.....turns out they have a number of low carb freindly suggestions....

Good job for thinking way ahead! I applaud you and your efforts! Way to go!

Red Lobster! Great job!...I am a drug rep and providing lunch many times a month can be a distress on the old diet! I am actually having Red lobster tomorrow for a lunch w/ an office, and I think I'll pre plan my meal! Thanks for the heads up!

My sister wanted to go to Red Lobster today since she started Atkins yesterday. I got the same thing that I had a few days ago, but this time I told them not to bring out any biscuits period. They really are too tempting... LOL

Great news, it's day 13 and down 20 lbs. I am finally off that water pill. 10 more lbs and I think my doc will be able to take me off the bp meds. yay! I love Atkins!
