  • ?about 'cup' sizes

    Hi there,

My ? is as the sUbject title says.

Cup size is not very specific so I'm a little confused.
Is there a standard cup size?
I think of 'cup' as being the little tea cups on saucers lol, which neither I or anyone I know have or use these days.
Standard are mugs which are considerably larger.

I just want to be sure of measurements before I start on Monday.

    Thanks for any advice.

Use an 8 oz measuring cup. If you want to be more spacific buy a small kitchen sclae. Good Luck on Monday, you will do great

i've found the kitchen measuring cups really useful, invest in a set, they normally come in a set ranging from a cup, 1/2 cup 1/3 cup etc down to tablespoon and teaspoon measurements.
just to be aware of what im consuming and keeping my fitday food dairy accurate, i've found them really useful.

        Hi Lauren & thanks....

8oz measuring cup...is that not fluid ounces though?
I do have a great set of kitchen scales to use but don't know the equivalent of an 8oz measuring cup would be in grammes etc?
Also are the veggies packed in? If they are chopped small then obviously there will be greater content...

Sorry to keep going on, just want things to be crystal clear lol.

        Thanks,

Quoting myself from a previous thread:
You can get measuring cups and, incidentally, proper measuring teaspoons and tablespoons from Tesco. They come in sets of four:
              - 1/4 Cup
              - 1/3 Cup
              - 1/2 Cup
              - 1 Cup

              And
              - 1/4 tsp
              - 1/3 tsp
              - 1 tsp
              - 1 Tbs

              And yes, 1 Cup = 1 teacup.

Veggies such as salad should be "loosely packed" according to Dr A.

                  Re: ?about 'cup' sizes

One of our members Soliwit compiled a long list of the various veggies on the allowed list with the weight per cupful according to the USDA database which I have just copied into a new 'sticky' thread at the top of this forum.

                  http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=41620

You could copy and save it to your computer and print it out for easy reference when cooking.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

                    Thanks everyone!

Thanks Elizellen....I spotted the sticky straight away tonight, lol.
I have copied it into notebook and saved it for future reference.

Trawled Tesco this avvy for measuring cups but no joy. Even the staff couldn't locate any.
Will have a look in Asda I think as it is a much bigger store.

                    Thanks again everyone...much appreciated.
