Re: Weights of vegetables per cup measure

Yes, the book you find in the UK (the one with blue and orange) has this part different than the original, which says:
Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three cups -- loosely packed -- of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables (see list of acceptable vegetables on pages 125-126).
There is no mention of any quantities.
So 250 g of lettuce is okay for OWL, but too much for induction. However, you can upper your carbs by eating more nutritious / higher in carbs veggies.

Just to be sure, I would go back to the 3 cups of veg rule for the rest of your 14 days then move to OWL and add more.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Have adjusted accordingly. Thanks! Now I realize how useful this list really is!

Thanks for the list, what a good idea. Can anyone tell me why when you're on induction (or in my case extended induction) you're allowed 20 gms of carbs but must limit yourself to 3 cups of vegetables. Does it really matter if you exceed 3 cups as long as you stick to within the carb allowance?

I think Dr Atkins was trying to teach us portion control as well as the importance of eating our veggies.

As we are supposed to get 'most' of our up to 20 net carbs from veg we are forced to choose the higher carb ones from the list if we also want to eat cheese, cream, eggs and sweetener and still have less of them carb-wise than our veg.

And of course the second phase of Atkins starts with adding more veg too!

I know it has been a while since you posted this, but if you go to the first page of this thread there is another post of mine that makes it a bit clearer I think, but here goes again (I realise it can be confusing)

              1/2 cup=0,6oz
              1/4 cup=0,3oz

In many European countries they use the comma instead of the full stop (period mark?) as a decimal point.

                  Hi,
these measurements really helped me. I wanted to get the zucchini weight but as I went through I could come across.. So I observed it about 85grms.. Sorry if I am mistaken...
