  • Day Four-Totally Depressed

I started Thursday. I've been on and off diets for years. I'm 22 years old and I have NEVER been happy with my body. That's a realyl horrible thing to have to admit.

I started Thursday. I weighed myself Friday morning and it came in at 191 (5'6). However, I had weighed myself the thursday before and I was at 187...how could I have gained four lbs in one week? It seems impossible so I thought that it was probably just water weight or something. Well, four days into induction I'm not at 189.2. It's a 1.8 lb lost from my start weight but what that means is that the 191 was a REAL number. That is REALLY what I weighed!

Then, my fiance who is doing the diet with me, told me this morning that maybe I should try NOT to eat SO MUCH cheese and I would see a difference. I'm sure it was a harmless comment but it struck straight to the core. I basically interpreted that to say, "You cheese lard fat ***".

Day four and I'm already depressed.

awwwww, I'm sorry your feeling so down about it.

    My advice:

    1. Stop weighing. Put the scale away until you've finished two weeks of induction. I know it's hard, but your weight is going to go up and down, day by day. If watching the scale every day is going to depress you, don't do it!

    2. Re-read the induction section of the book and follow the eating plan. As long as you're not eating more than the 3-4 oz allowed amount of cheese you'll be fine.

    3. Remind yourself every day that this is for the rest of your life. Adjust your expectations to the reality of becoming physically fit over a period of time. It won't happen by next week. But it will happen. Unrealistic expectations are your enemy.

    4. Take your measurements, if you haven't already. Write them down and update them weekly. This is very helpful when the scale is giving you the numbers you want.

You can do this! Good luck!
