  • befour I start do I need to?

I was at the Dr's a few months back he said every thing was good and that I am Heathly. Other then the fact that I need to lose some weight. Do I still have to go to the Dr's to get everything checked out? I am not on any medication, I don't have diatbeies, blood pressure is good and so on. If I really really have to I will go but I don't have any medical coverage and I think it might cost a bunch of money wich I might not be able to afford. If any one here can give me some advice that would be wonderful.

    Thank you

    Bobbi

*officially* you should be seen and have your doctor's recommendation and blessing to start any new diet.

That being said, what you're doing with this WOE is nothing weird. You are controlling the types of food that you are eating. You are concentrating your nutrition, essentially, by eliminating all the fluff - white sugar, white flour, etc. Now, everything that you eat will be nutritionally dense (hopefully).

If you've had blood work done, you'll see amazing changes when you go again. My cholesterol was 265 (UGH!!) just before I started the diet. Eight weeks in (yeah, they recommend to wait until 6 mos, but the doc wanted to see if there was any changes)... I was 195. Okay, still high, but headed in the right direction.

Naturally (and here's the legal disclaimer) if you start experiencing symptoms that you feel are not normal for you, and they persist longer than you expect (after reading the book), be sure to contact your physician.

You know your body. You'll go through the induction flu, most likely. (I didn't mind - that's how I knew the diet was working). It's ikky, it sucks, but it shows progress. And... you will get through it!

Cocobelle thank you for posting. That makes me feed better. Did any one else out here not go to the Dr as well? If so let me know.

I didn't go to the doctor, but I don't recommend that to others, for safety issues, simply because each person is different, with different health/medical histories. I started on my own, simply because I know the plan is healthy and I was fed up with my life and wanted to start "NOW".

I've not had bloodwork done in ages (I think I did have cholesterol, et. al. done about 5 years ago, yikes) but I know that I'm probably the healthiest I've ever been now. I didn't have horrible numbers before, but I can guarantee after 7 months of Atkins, they're much better now.

I didn't go either. I don't have insurance so I can't afford to. I would suggest getting bloodwork done if you can though, so you'll be able to look back on it after you've done this for a while. I wish I could.
