  • I don't want to eat, at all!

I'm on day 11 of induction. Scale says I've lost three lbs. It's less than I would have liked to have seen but tomorrow I won't be as fat as I am today right?

I'm getting to the point where even thinking about food makes me not want to eat. It's not just one thing, but everything. I have to force myself to eat breakfast in the morning and now it's about lunch time and I'm not hungry at all. It's been like this the past two days...I don't want to NOT eat because I don't think the diet would work if I didn't eat much, but I can't imagine that forcing food down my throat is good either.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Congrats! You're in ketosis. One of the physical signs of ketosis is appetite suppression.

Right now it's important that you follow the rules and go no more than 6 waking hours without eating something. If you can only stomach a hard boiled egg and a few sticks of celery, that's fine.

Also, you might want to eat the higher carb veggies on the Induction Acceptable Foods list. Eating lettuce might not be in your best interest right now because lettuce offers little fiber and other nutrients that your body requires.

I totally hear ya!! The first few days I'm on induction Im starving...like I cant get enough to eat and then about a week and a half later Im choking down food. I just dont have much of an appetite after a while ( this isnt my first time with Atkins ) Its true that you do need to eat, your good foods of course but its really hard to get an appetite.

        Snuggles11,

I'm in your exact same boat right now. I'm on day 8 of induction (I've also done Atkins before), and I cannot stand the thought of food right now either. But not2late is right, you have to force something down your throat. Today, all I've been able to stomach is some bacon and an Atkins shake. I plan on forcing myself to eat something really nutritious for dinner. I'm also making sure I take my vitamins every day to make up for the vitamins & nutrients that I may not be getting because of the little food I'm able to eat. Good luck!!

I totally get what you are saying. I'm on day 6 of Induction and I don't feel like eating. Yesterday my Fitday totals were barely 800. I was a steep drop from the first two days. Today I'm trying to eat more just because I know I have to. I just have something to eat because its time to eat. Just try to eat something every six hours. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Same thing here as well. Today was day8 and I ate - but wasn't hungry at all. This is not my first time on Atkins either.

Karina - we have close to the same stats. I think your "dream girl" pic is FUNNY, I'm gonna make one to put on my fridge.

Re: I don't want to eat, at all!

I have a similar problem : I'm not nearly as hungry as I was the first few days, but instead, I start getting a little dizzy or headachey I haven't eaten in more than 3 or 4 hours. Even when that happens, I'm not hungry. My solution has been to eat about every 3 hours, and head off to dizziness that way.

But, I'm wonderig, is this normal? What is causing it?

(I'm day 3 clean induction, but I did a 3 day induction-like thing before I started, cutting out sugars and fruits and grains, limiting caffiene to green tea, and eating lots of cheese and cabbage. I got over the worst cravings then, so my day 3 now isn't a typical day 3.)

Re: I don't want to eat, at all!

That's the one thing I really love about atkins induction, the total lack of craving and sometimes even interest in food.

Just remember you need to eat, and don't skip breakfast, even if its just something small.

Day 14 of induction (Ooops I thought it was 12 until I actually counted.Time flies when you are having fun!) and ZERO appetite. I'm going to go force down breakfast now, especially since I had practically nothing for dinner last night! It's nice not having food as my master, dictating my every move.

Tomorrow I have to attend a family function at a German Hall, where there wil be the classic German buffet. I am actually looking forward to it to have a great selection of veggies. I'm not even worried that I might pig out, because I just won't want too. Wonderful!

i too am having the "i am not hungry" issue....i think i only had 6 carbs yesterday...the past 2 days the thought of eating has made me ill...i am not sure what to do about this....i think my lack of eating has stalled me out.....

                    good luck...

I'm looking forward to 'getting there' with the no appetite thing. This is my 2nd time around on Atkins, I'm in Day 6 and I still have some hunger going on. I guess all I remembered from the last time was that I wasn't hungry and forgot that it took some time to get there. Gotta keep it up...
